My niece has always had a soft spot for the piano. From the moment she could reach the keys, she’s been drawn to their sound.
I knew her passion was worth encouraging, so I offered to find and pay for proper lessons to help her get started. With a pro guiding her, she’s already showing real promise after just a few sessions—and it’s been amazing to watch.
That’s why I’m sharing the best piano lessons in Leeds, so others can give their loved ones the same chance to learn. But if singing is more your thing, check out my list of the best singing lessons in Leeds, too.

Piano lessons in Leeds typically cost £22.50 for a 30-minute session, or around £28 per hour with private tutors. Prices can vary depending on the teacher’s experience, lesson length, and whether you’re taking 1-on-1 or group classes.

Music Lab is probably one of the better options if accessibility is your priority. They’ve got four branches dotted around the city in North, South Beeston, East, and West Leeds, which makes it easier to find one close by.
Their piano lessons are quite flexible and cater well to beginners as well as those who already know their way around the keys. The free trial is a nice touch because you can see if it suits you before paying.
They let you pay weekly, monthly, or yearly, which is flexible, and the 30-day satisfaction guarantee is reassuring since they’ll refund you fully if you’re not happy. I like that they run referral and loyalty programs, too.
The downsides are the higher fees compared to smaller tutors, and the hours can be a bit inconsistent.
I believe we found the right place and the right tutor
“My daughter had a trial session with Jacob today. She was more than happy. She is ready to start her music journey with Jacob as her tutor. He welcomed us very warmly and answered all our questions. I believe we found the right place and the right tutor. Thanks, Jacob and Music Lab 🎶”

Morley Live CIC is quite an interesting place to learn piano. It’s a mix of a music school and a cafe, which gives it a cosy, relaxed vibe. Students sometimes get the chance to play for cafe patrons, which adds a nice community feel.
When it comes to piano lessons, they’ve got three teachers, so booking one isn’t a hassle. I like that they offer a one-off 20-minute taster for a tenner, perfect if you just want to see what their teaching style is like before committing.
It’s good too that they make learning fun for kids. Their holiday clubs keep things light-hearted while school is out, and they also run music sessions for home-educated children that focus on socialising and building confidence.
Sadly, there are no morning classes. They’re also located on the southern edge of Leeds, so getting here can be tricky for some.

Phone number: +44 113 243 1605
Business hours:

Music House, or the Yorkshire College of Music and Drama, has been part of Leeds for years, and you can tell it’s well-established. It’s not one of those flashy new places but more of a steady presence that focuses on keeping music accessible for everyone.
1:1 piano lessons start at £19, which is quite affordable. If you book a block, they’ll add a free lesson, which is a nice bonus. Group lessons are available as well, which is great if you prefer learning with others or want to save a bit more money.
However, it should be noted that their weekend availability is limited. They also require students to commit to a term of lessons, so they’re not a good choice for casual or drop-in learning.
Thankfully, they do offer flexible payment plans in case you don’t want to pay for everything all at once.
Our son has progressed well with his piano and violin playing
“Our son has progressed well with his piano and violin playing since he started lessons here a few years ago. The college has good facilities, great tutors and a small staff team who have been really accommodating for our family’s needs. Highly recommended.”

4. Komura Piano Studio

Address: 11 Wensley Ave, Chapel Allerton
Phone number: +44 7447 761139
Business hours: 10:00 AM – 8:30 PM (WED-MON)
It took me a while to find piano lessons for my niece, but I ultimately ended up choosing Komura Piano Studio. The biggest reason? Credentials.
It’s run by Dr Yusuke Komura, a pianist with a strong international background. He was the Chief Piano Instructor at Yamaha Music Academy in Thailand before moving to the UK.
I joined my niece for her free trial lesson, and I could tell straight away that Dr Komura really knows his stuff. He introduced her to basic techniques to help her get comfortable with the piano, and by the end, she was already playing simple tunes on her own.
I also appreciate his flexibility. Most lessons are in person, but he offers Zoom sessions when the weather is bad and provides recorded videos for continued learning.
The only downsides are the steep £60 hourly fee and the lack of an online booking system.
Every lesson is enjoyable and very educational
“The teacher always gives clear and insightful advice. When working on musical expression, he listens carefully to my ideas and helps shape the piece together with me. Every lesson is enjoyable and very educational. I always learn something new and look forward to each session.”
-Miyuki Sekiya, Google Reviews
An incredibly talented teacher
“I can’t praise Dr Yusuke Komura enough for being such an incredibly talented teacher. Especially for me as a senior adult beginner with no experience at all. He was able to put me at ease from the first lesson, build a good rapport and helped me to learn confidently. His lessons are well structured not only to learn the key techniques but also personalised to learn my favourite music from Studio Ghibli. This makes every lesson rewarding and immensely enjoyable. After four lessons, I was able to start sight reading and play Spirited Away at novice level. When I first arrived at Dr Komura’s Studio four weeks ago, I wouldn’t have thought this was possible at all. Strongly recommended!”

5. Bach To Basics

Phone number: +44 7429 572177
Business hours: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM (MON-SUN)
Another option that really stands out for its credentials is Bach To Basics. It’s run by Sum, who has been playing piano for over 35 years and graduated from the University of Huddersfield.
The setup is flexible, which I find convenient. You can go to Sum’s home studio, have lessons online through Zoom, or even arrange for lessons at your own place. There’s a free first lesson too, which helps you see if the teaching style suits you.
The lessons themselves lean on classical foundations but don’t feel intimidating. They’re open to all ages, whether you’re chasing grades or just want to play for fun.
The only drawback is the lack of convenience online. Prices aren’t listed, and you have to email to find out, plus there’s no proper online booking system.
Sum is an amazing piano teacher
