Honour your fur baby with the best pet cremation services in Leeds!

Compassion: Through testimonials, test enquiries, and personal experience, we narrowed the options to crematoriums that showed genuine sensitivity and care in handling grieving fur parents.

Customisation: We opted for crematoriums with personalised options, say custom urns, keepsakes, memorial services, the works.

We used three things as our verification method: brochure reviews, enquiries, and research on online service listings.

Clear Communication: Support response times were tested. Only the fastest, clearest, friendliest, and most detailed made the cut.

Value for Money: The last thing you’d want is to get ripped off. That’s why we leaned on testimonials and price comparisons to gauge the crematoriums’ cost efficiency.

Transparency and quote reliability were also evaluated, chiefly through client interviews and testimonials.

Experience: We only included places with at least three strong years on their resume. Like the previous criteria, we used interviews to evaluate this, alongside legal business document checks.

Few things break the heart quite like saying goodbye to a cherished pet, so when it was my turn to face that pain, I turned to a quality crematorium. Honouring my furball’s memory with all the love and dignity he deserved was non-negotiable.

And when I say no corners were cut, I mean it. Even though my head was a mess back at that time, I made sure that factors like personalisation, compassion, availability, and cost were all sorted.

Now, if you’re going through the same heartbreak of losing a pet, please be gentle with yourself. Hopefully, this guide on Leeds’ best cremation services will help ease the load.

What is the cost of pet cremation services in the UK?

In Leeds, the cost of pet cremation services often depends on the animal’s size, with small ones at £150, medium ones at £200, large ones at £250, and extra large ones at £350.

My decision to go with Yorkshire Pet Crematorium wasn’t a snap move. Their 25 years of experience, for one, weighed a lot.

The pricing also helped. My little lad was a shih tzu, so the £150 fee wasn’t overblown considering the city’s average price for small-dog cremations.

Getting an ashes-to-scatter box for that cost was a nice bonus, too.

Additionally, this crematorium only does individual cremations, which gave me peace knowing my pooch’s ashes were truly his.

No moans about the customer service either. Judy and Dawn were brilliant, clear, and efficient, even helping me take home the ashes that very day.

I also love how there are many options for memorial plaques or urns. All are nicely made and well-priced.

That said, the chilly room where they meet clients could use some warming up. The Sunday closure is also bad news if you’re tight on time.

Pros

  • 25 years of experience
  • Reasonable prices
  • Varied memorial plaques and urns
  • Does individual cremation

Cons

  • Cold lobby
  • Sunday closure

Most Comforting

‘I had my budgie Mayday cremated here last year. I have lost animals before but this was the most comforting and sensitive experience. Judith was lovely. She wrote a little letter with his remains and she also gave me his leg band, which I hadn’t asked for because I didn’t know it was something that could be taken off. I am so happy that I have it.’

Very Sympathetic

‘Had my cat Zeke cremated at YPC 2 months ago. Judith was kind and very sympathetic, put me at ease, and went the extra mile with a couple of requests. This is the 2nd time we’ve been to YPC for pet cremations. The place feels homely and welcoming. Thanks again Judith.’

Bankhouse Pet Crematorium’s reliability is a significant factor in why we gave them a shot. Straight off, they picked up the phone in seconds, and we were able to meet the staff on the same day.

They came through on the compassion side as well. Clients described the Bankhouse team as effective listeners, and that they don’t rush grieving fur parents.

Being open 24/7 is another massive blessing, especially since you don’t have to bear the additional stress of panicking over closing hours.

Just mind that pricing isn’t the lowest around. It’s usually £220 for smaller dogs and £320 to £400 for medium to larger breeds.

We’d also like to see memorial urns, plaques, or stones posted online, as it would make planning easier.

On the upside, they look after cats and smaller pets for more affordable prices, respectively at £145 and £125.

Pros

  • Open 24/7
  • Operating for 7+ years
  • Justified prices for cats and small pets
  • Same-day services

Cons

  • Memorial items aren’t posted online
  • Pricier service for dogs

Many praised Wharfedale Pet Cremation’s attention to detail when it comes to keepsakes. You see, they have some of this list’s loveliest urns and scatter tubes, with personalised touches like paw prints and fur included.

Moreover, the 24/7 availability gets some love. Booking same-day services rarely fails, and better yet, ashes are returned within 24 to 48 hours.

Cost-wise, they’re a tad expensive. Cremations for dogs typically start at £200, while it’s £190 for cats. Getting a metal urn or scatter tube will bump that up more.

Collections are also charged by mileage. That’s not ideal if you live far from Lindley Wood Farm.

On the other hand, the countryside location can help you mourn, as it’s devoid of noise and the rush of daily life.

The staff are also experienced at handling grieving owners, often providing support or empathetic tips on how to handle loss.

Pros

  • Open since 2021
  • Detailed keepsakes
  • Countryside location
  • Open 24/7
  • Provides services for rabbits

Cons

  • Pricier
  • Collections are mileage-based

Made It Just That Little Bit Less Painful

‘A kind, personal service from the moment of my tearful initial call to the time I picked up the ashes. Easy directions to get there, a hug for us as we got out of the car (more tears!), gentle handling of our lovely boy and always the offer of support or a chat. His final journey across the moors in winter sunshine was almost a pleasure too. No one wants to go through it, but Kathryn made it just that little bit less painful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.’

The Experience Was Beautiful

‘Forever grateful to Kathryn for her empathy, humour, comfort, easiness and help with the process of dealing with a sudden loss of our beloved little girl Puss aka Tutty. Such a loving person and we couldnt have imagined anyone better to take care of our girls last moments. Location is tranquil and beautiful. attention to details (nose/ paw prints and a little jar with the fur) was priceless. Although it was a very sad circumstances for us – the experience was beautiful. Loads of love to Kathryn xxx’

Twenty years of experience make Legacy Pets a desirable candidate for those who highly value established names.

What’s more, they don’t compromise on reliability. That was confirmed by clients who received their pets’ ashes within the same day or around 48 hours.

The one-pet-at-a-time process is a positive feature as well. Mix-ups are highly unlikely, and, most importantly, your pet will be treated with the utmost respect.

Furthermore, the crematorium has dedicated ‘goodbye facilities,’ peaceful spaces for unhurried farewells.

It’s crucial to note, though, that this one is about a 48-minute drive to the city centre. Our three previous options might be more convenient for CBD residents.

Fortunately for those who aren’t, Legacy Pets provides a 24/7 collection service that covers vet clinics and private homes. Just prepare for an added travel fee.

The silver lining is their prices start at £195 for dogs and £175 for all cats.

Pros

  • Operating for 20 years
  • Offers same-day and 48-hour services
  • Dedicated goodbye facilities
  • Open 24/7
  • Offers memorial jewellery

Cons

  • 48-minute drive from the Leeds CBD

Showed Great Compassion

‘We recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to let our beloved Libby Loo go onto her next adventures over Rainbow Bridge. From the 1st phone call that we made to them, to receiving her ashes back, the whole experience was seamless. Everyone that we dealt with, whether in person or on the telephone showed great compassion, care and sympathy. Everything was arranged at a time to suit us. John the vet came out to us, spent time getting to know us and Libby and explained the whole process. We were given as much time as we needed before she was collected from us by Justin, he asked if we would like a call to confirm she’d arrived safely into their care. The respect shown to Libby by John and Justin was lovely, it was obvious that they genuinely cared. We got her back 2 days later. We will never be able to thank you all enough for all that you have done and the compassion shown. You have made what seemed unbearable to us, bearable. Thank you.

Gave Us So Much Peace

‘After a heartbreaking decision to let our beautiful girl Betsy go last week, we got in touch with Legacy Pets and from the start they treated us with such care and compassion.

We are so grateful to them for giving our girl the most dignified final journey. It was gave us so much peace and comfort knowing she was safe in their hands.

Special thanks to Norma, who showed us such kindness and empathy when collecting Betsy’s ashes. It was clear how genuine she is, and how much she truly cares.

Thank you so much for giving us comfort during our heartbreak 💔’

Procare Pet Cremations

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Distance from the Leeds CBD: 56 mins (48.8 mi)

If awards sway your choice, Procare Pet Cremations is worthy of a look. After all, they clinched the UK Enterprise Award’s Best Crematorium of the Year from 2022 to 2024.

Beyond that, they have offerings not present in their competitors, like cremating birds and reptiles.

There’s a communal option, too. It’s a more affordable route that includes collection services, though hand-delivering the ashes isn’t part of the deal.

Plus, owners of donkeys, horses, and ponies can avail themselves of Procare’s equine cremation, something most entries here don’t have.

We also appreciate their more varied keepsake range. The jewellery, urns, and scatter tubes come in different styles and designs.

So what’s the main catch? Well, their regular fees are steep. Services for smaller dogs already kick off at £229, and, naturally, larger and heavier pets cost more.

The good news is you can opt for a monthly payment setup to break up the expenses.

Pros

  • Best Crematorium of the Year (2022 – 2024)
  • Has services for birds, reptiles, and equines
  • Monthly payment option
  • Cheaper communal option
  • Open 24/7

Cons

  • Pricey
  • 56 mins from the Leeds CBD

Took Such Good Care

‘My cat recently got hit by a car and left on the side of the road and I would’ve buried him however I don’t live in the UK I live in Dubai so burying him here wouldn’t be an option and I was unsure as to what to do so I choose to cremate him – I was scared to use ProCare at first as I’ve never done this before but they’re very flexible with their schedule and picked my baby up the same day and took such good care – The man who picked him up (I think his name was lewis) was so kind and respectful of the whole situation and made the experience so much better, I would recommend Procare 1000x they take such good care of your babies and overall are so caring and passionate about their customers and our animals. I received my baby back with such good care and I can’t thank Procare enough <3’

Incredibly Sensitive

‘Marcus and the Procare team were fantastic when our springer spaniel Rosie suddenly passed away. He was there the next day and was incredibly sensitive about the entire situation. He treated Rosie with such care and consideration while she was taken away. We wouldn’t hesitate to use their services again (but hopefully we won’t have to for a long time!)’
