The best motels in Leeds prove that affordability shouldn’t sacrifice quality!
One thing I genuinely like about Leeds is that there’s always a hotel nearby for a head-clearing staycation or a posh stay. However, not all of us are rolling in cash or need five Brinkhaus pillows to function.
That’s where my travelling experience comes in clutch. Before I settled in Leeds, I stayed in decent motels as a backpacker, not the ‘someone is getting interrogated in Room 3’ kind you might be thinking right now.
No, I’m talking about tidy, convenient, safe, and affordable digs where the shower water isn’t murky and the Wi-Fi will normally let you watch a 1080p YouTube video.
If that sounds like what you need, we have some tested recommendations!
How much do motels charge in Leeds per night?
Typically, most motels in Leeds charge between £48 and £90 per night.
1. Holiday Inn Express Leeds

Address: Off Cavendish St, Kirkstall Rd
Contact Details: 0371 902 1616
Check-in: 3 pm
Check-out: 11 am
Holiday Inn Express is a handy motel if you’re huge on convenience. Just to start, it’s within 30 minutes of the M62 motorway, 7 miles from the city centre (about a 15-minute stroll), and a mile from the train station.
I also dig that they provide a hot buffet breakfast, which is included in the payment. That perk has saved me from pricey resto trips.
The rates are in line with Leeds’ average as well, although cheaper options are available. Still, it’s not a complaint-worthy situation, as their crash pads are clean and have a legroom of around 215-sqm to 255-sqm per room.
I also love that they allow pets, prohibit smoking, and are accessible, with wheelchair-friendly features such as ramps and disabled parking.
That said, parking isn’t free. You have to shell out an extra £12.5.
The Wi-Fi can be hit or miss, too, from my experience. Sometimes it’s speedy, sometimes it lags.
Had a Great Stay
Just spent one night. Checking in was fantastic (Isobele) was extremely friendly and very helpful). Room was perfect, everything we needed for a nights stay (the price, including breakfast was a bargain). Would not hesitate to stay here again. One very, very slight minor was the 15 minutes walk to the city centre shops (but worth it for the variety of shops there). We ate at the brewery pub a few yards down the road in the evening (can’t remember the name) which was wonderful too. Food was excellent. Just wished we could have stayed two nights. Had a great stay at the holiday inn.

The Location Was Excellent
We stayed at this hotel in April for a short 3 night break and the staff were friendly and efficient making our stay here very enjoyable.
The location was excellent for us as all the attractions in Leeds were walkable.
The surrounding attractions like the Yorkshire dales where easy to access by car or train.
Would definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting Leeds.

2. Travelodge Leeds Central

Address: 107 Vicar Ln
Contact Details: 0871 984 6337
Check-in: 3 pm
Check-out: 12 pm
For a budget stay, Travelodge holds up, especially the one in Vicar Lane. It was my go-to back then, largely because the motel is just a 6-minute ride and 10-minute walk from the Leeds CBD.
Prices are also on the lower end. Rooms as low as £43.99 are offered, and the ‘bougie-er’ pads start at £54.99.
However, the Wi-Fi drags the place down. While it’s consistent speed-wise, it’s only free for 30 minutes; you have to pay after that stretch.
The rooms, while decent, can also be a toss-up. Most are too simple, to the point where they can be described as bleak and colourless.
On the bright side, breakfast is available, and it’s only £1 extra if you’re adding a kid to the table.
No major gripes against the staff either. They’re often polite and attentive, especially when it comes to cleaning requests.
The Room I Had Was Spacious
I had not stayed at this hotel since 2019, and there has been refurbishment that has taken place.
The restaurant area looks much nicer than I remember and is very clean. The menu is somewhat limited, but there are decent offers.
The room I had was spacious. The carpets are no longer worn, and there is no damage to the walls or skirting boards.
The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, as the toilet had obviously not been properly cleaned. There is no air conditioning in the rooms, but a fan is provided. My main concern is that there is no working extractor in the bathroom, which leads to condensation on the windows.
Overall, the hotel was better than I remember, and the staff were very helpful.

Rooms Are Spacious
Good value for money. Rooms are spacious and have comfortable bed.
Although we left the sign on for the room to be cleaned/rubbish emptied they did not do it & we had to tell the cleaner after 2 days to do it. The soap dispenser at the sink was empty and they had to be told twice to fill it up. Apart from that it was all very good. The staff are very pleasant and helpful but we must make a special mention for a gentleman named Med at Reception.

3. Premier Inn Leeds City Centre

Address: Hepworth Point, Clay Pit Ln
Contact Details: 0333 321 9266
Check-in: 3 pm
Check-out: 12 pm
Premier Inn is a safe bet if you prefer walking to Downtown Leeds, with an estimated time of just 8 minutes. It’s also within walking distance of key locations, such as the First Direct Arena (a bonus for live music fans) and the University of Leeds.
Having stayed here a few times before, I also appreciate the variety of rooms. There are standard digs (most affordable), family rooms, and premium options, which have extras like upgraded workspaces and mini-fridges.
The rooms don’t look dull either, thanks to their lighter colour schemes, mood lighting, access to natural light, and city views. Plus, Wi-Fi is free.
Children dine free as well, as long as they’re with a paying adult. The breakfast is served buffet-style.
If there’s a drawback, it’s the pricier rates and lack of self-check-in machines. With many guests passing through, the reception queue can often be a slog.
Cozy and Comfortable
Staying here was a great decision. Near everything location unmatched. The hotel looked well-kept from the outside. The front desk staff were warm, welcoming, and a credit to the chain. I was pleasantly surprised to be given a spacious room. the room was cozy and comfortable.
The best part was the bed extremely comfortable and gave me one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a while , can’t go wrong in a silent night bed.
At check-in, I was offered two breakfast from 6:30 till 10:30 which I appreciated for the flexibility. While I didn’t opt for breakfast in the end, it was nice to have the choice. When I checked out, a staff member was at the front desk and very helpful.

Super Convenient
First of all, the hotel is located just over the road from the First Direct Arena. You honestly can’t get closer and there’s a pelican crossing to help you across. Super convenient and there’s a Morrisons just below, as well as a town on your doorstep to explore! Check in was super easy on the self-check in machines and there’s someone on reception to help with other bookings queries. Checkout is similarly simple as you just return your key cards.
The room itself was spacious. We had a triple room and found it plenty big enough. We stayed during a heatwave and the air conditioning was amazing, perfect to cool down! The purple lighting in the bathroom is a unique feature. The only issue we found was hairs in the shower, which we had to clean before getting in. Take your own shampoo- the room only has 2 in 1 shampoo and body wash.
As for breakfast, I can’t recommend it enough. Monicka is so helpful and made sure vegetarian options were brought to the table. There was a selection of teas and pastries. The cooked breakfast was great, albeit except for the ‘This isn’t bacon’™, in my opinion. The lifts contain posters stating the busiest times to visit the restaurant on each day, which is perfect for those who like a quieter start to the day!
Overall, I would definitely stay in this hotel again if visiting the arena.

4. Discovery Inn

Address: 13-15 Bishopgate St
Contact Details: 0113 242 2555
Check-in: 2 pm
Check-out: 11 am
If you don’t want to overspend, Discovery Inn is a reasonable choice. The motel’s cheapest rooms, specifically those for lone wolves, start at £60.
The choices for double or triple occupancy are priced competitively, too. Double and twin bedrooms usually cost £65, while triple rooms kick off at £120 a night, a proper bargain if you split the bill three ways (£40 each).
Even the continental buffet breakfast is fairly priced; adults pay £7.95 each, and kids under 3 eat for free! In addition, you’ll enjoy a 15% discount by staying for two nights.
In terms of location, you’re just 100 metres from Leeds Station. The downside? The parking, although discounted, is not on-site (2 minutes away).
A more notable drawback is the lack of air conditioning in most rooms, particularly the older ones.
To be fair, there are 94 rooms, so you’re stuck with fewer than 10 options.
Bed Was Comfortable
Great location for a hotel.
Staff were lovely.
Bed was comfortable.
Bathroom could have done with a refresh as not the best shower in the world. But hotel served its purpose for what we needed it for and would stay again if needed.

Cozy Room
Excellent first time experience. Was greeted by a delightful and friendly man who walked me though each process of getting properly checked in, it sets the tone for your stay when you’re immediately trated so well!
The room was perfect! I only requested a single, not expecting much, but it was delightful and had all the essentials! The shower was probably the best part and the cozy room guaranteed one of the best nights sleep I’ve had while travelling.
The location is absolutely perfect, you’re right in the centre of Leeds which means you’re surrounded by excellent bars, plenty of options for eating, and great sites to see.

5. easyHotel

Address: 18-22 Lands Ln
Contact Details: +441135310505
Check-in: 3 pm
Check-out: 10 am
Location-wise, easyHotel is a practical choice, as it’s only a 3-minute ride from the Leeds CBD. That also means it’s a fitting choice if you’re looking to explore tourist spots, primarily the Leeds Art Gallery, Roundhay Park, and O2 Academy.
Can’t knock on the rates either. The most budget-friendly options just go for £55.80. You can shave 10% off that just by signing up, and a 15% discount is given to those who stay for three nights.
Of course, there are not-so-great bits about the cost-effective prices. For instance, the most affordable rooms, although equipped with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and bathrooms, don’t have windows.
Also, their track record for working tellies isn’t the best, honestly.
If you can shrug those off, easyHotel is solid. The eco-conscious practices (wooden key cards, no single-use plastic policy, etc.) and sleek minimalist layouts even add to the appeal.
Spotless, Spacious, and Beautifully Decorated
I recently had the pleasure of staying at easy hotel and it exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome with their warm hospitality and professionalism. Check-in was smooth and quick, and I was promptly shown to my room.
The room itself was spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with all the modern amenities I could ask for. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I appreciated the attention to detail—fresh linens, quality toiletries, and even a complimentary bottle of water and snacks.
One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel’s breakfast. The variety and quality of the food were outstanding, with both local and international options available. The dining area was clean and well-maintained, and the service was consistently friendly.
The location of the hotel was perfect—close to major attractions and public transport, but still quiet enough for a peaceful night’s sleep. I also made use of the fitness center and the pool, both of which were clean and well-equipped.

Good for Short Stays
Very nice location right in the middle of the city. Rooms are small but good for short stays. Services by the staff, specifically by Foram were excellent…She made the stay so easy with her help and support all the time when I had queries.
when I checked in, Beth was also very helpful.,
