Leave a mark & make it last with the best engraving shops in Leeds!

Experience: If the shop doesn’t have at least three years in its resume and experience with different engraving types like metal and wood, we crossed it off. Personal experience, feedback, business documents, and interviews were our key indicators.

Communication: Test enquiries and client reviews played a big part here. Some aspects we judged were response speed, explanation clarity, and politeness.

‘Too pushy’ shops were excluded.

Cost Efficiency: This criterion was judged based on price comparisons and client feedback. The availability of fair quotes and discounts was also verified through experience and interviews.

Portfolio: We had to check in-store samples and online galleries to check the design’s quality and flexibility; generic fonts didn’t cut it. Higher ranks were also given to shops with a wider range, like being able to engrave plaques, jewellery, utensils, etc.

Equipment: Shops that use reliable and modern engraving equipment, like those from Gravotech and Epilog, got extra props. This was checked via in-store visits and client feedback.

Before I wrote for a living, I did some hard yards in other industries—pulled pints, stacked shelves, that type of grind. And if there’s one universal truth I picked up, it’s that personal touches, particularly engraved details, go a long, long way.

Just look at brands like Rolex and Cartier, or your local pet supply store for collars. Billion-dollar company or not, a top-shelf engraver can jazz a brand’s name with that premium shine, add signature bits, and even keep the fakes at bay.

Now, the real stressful part is picking a shop that won’t waste your pounds and time. I did the research for you so you can choose wisely!

How much does engraving cost in the UK?

In the UK, engraving can be as cheap as £10 or as expensive as £100, mostly depending on the item’s size, the message’s intricacy, or the material. Stone and glass are the priciest options, while metal and steel are often the cheapest.

That said, you should expect additional fees for shipping or setup charges. Some also charge per character, with prices typically starting at £10 for 50 characters.

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Fri – 9 am to 5 pm
  • Sat – 10 am to 1 pm

Website

You don’t want names that just popped up yesterday, which is why we open this list with Larkfield Engraving. They’ve been at it since 1979.

They can engrave fully bespoke awards, so every time we’re looking for etchings on trophies or plaques, they’re usually among the first candidates.

They get more points for having an eco-friendly option. Despite being made with sustainable materials, these awards maintain an elegant look.

Talking prices, rates here stick to Leeds’ usual. What’s better is that clients often get orders within 24 hours.

The one thing that drags them down a bit is the Sunday unavailability and early Saturday closure.

Other than that, we’re not moaning, especially about the customer service. Their reps have been attentive and helpful to us so far.

Plus, they can engrave on crystalware, like tankards, bowls, and decanters.

Pros

  • Open since 1978
  • Eco-friendly option
  • Prices are within Leeds’ standard
  • Typical 24-hour turnaround

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays, closes early on Saturdays

Great Price

‘Excellent last minute help for father’s wedding gifts due to online company date error. Lesson learned better to use local. Ian from start to finish was professional and helped us out of a very embarrassing situation. Ordered 2 glasses engraved to our specifications Monday AM via phone and then email, collected the finished glasses Wednesday lunch. Great price and service! Thank you so much for your all help and we will definitely use you in the future and highly recommend.’

2. Jackson Trophies

Address: 34 Arran Dr, Horsforth

Contact Details: 0113 232 6505

Operating Hours: Mon to Fri – 9 am to 5 pm

Website

Jackson Trophies is another established engraver, first flipping that ‘open’ sign in 1984.

This pick also has fair prices if we’re talking Leeds, and the actual engraving is free if you score their trophies and other products. You even get advice from Jackson if you stop by the actual store, which operates more like a workshop.

When legging it bugs you, there’s an online system that’ll save your day. We mentioned it because the shopping process is simple and allows for personalisation, letting you pick sizes, colours, and, of course, engraving options.

They’re not limited in terms of range either. Most clients we hit up availed of Jackson’s trophy-related services, but they can also handle cases, clocks, vases, and novelty items.

Where things get a tad iffy is that they completely shut down on weekends.

Email chats can be clunky, too, as you need to message two addresses.

Pros

  • Opened in 1984
  • Extensive range
  • Free delivery within Leeds
  • Reasonable prices
  • Seamless online shopping process

Cons

  • Closes entirely on weekends
  • Inconvenient email setup

Very Speedy Delivery

‘We use Jackson Trophies year after year for our tournament week trophies and now don’t bother looking anywhere else as the quality couldn’t be better. We order online which is a very easy process, engraving 1st class . Excellent packaging and very speedy delivery.

Very helpful on the telephone if there are any queries. A++++++’

– Brian Mabbott, Google Review

Best Prices

‘We’ve used Jackson’s on a number of occasions for competitions and regular awards at our club.

Every time it’s been easy and they’ve the best prices around.

The team have been extremely helpful and go the extra mile! Would highly recommend this company.’

3. West Riding Sign & Print Ltd

west-riding-sign-print-ltd-logo

Address: Industrial Estate, Unit 5, Sydenham Rd, Domestic St, Holbeck

Contact Details: 0113 243 9156

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Thu – 8 am to 4:45 pm
  • Fri – 8 am to 3:45 pm

Website

If you’re searching for engravers that play with major industries, West Riding Signs is worth a shot. This one caters to the retail, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Experience boosts their appeal, too. Formerly known as West Riding Engravers, the shop has been in the industry since 1961.

Better yet, no one else here does acid etching, which, if you ask us, is more aesthetically pleasing than traditional or laser engraving. That’s especially true if we’re talking decorative metalwork or signage.

Prices are also justified, and that applies to individuals, not just companies.

That bespoke factor is what sealed it for us, though. A workmate ordered a personalised gift here, and they gave him carte blanche to pick the design and materials.

Unfortunately, customer service needs some patchwork. We heard from a former customer about a rep who came off rude.

It’s also a shame they don’t do weekends at all.

Pros

  • Open since 1961
  • Serves major industries
  • Offers chemical and laser etching

Cons

  • History of a rude rep
  • Weekend closure

Prices Are Just Great

‘Dear readers, if you need to make stamps for your company, this is one of the best companies around. Excellent service. And the prices are just great! I ordered the largest stamp, 60 mm, with an ink pad, and it only cost me 49 pounds, including VAT. The ink is already filled in the ink pad. They fulfill my order in just 1-2 days. So why use the internet? You don’t know what you’ll receive, but here you can see samples and also place an order, I believe even by phone. There is convenient parking available on-site. I highly recommend their services to all my readers in the area and nearby towns. Thank you for your attention!’

Perfect in Every Way

‘Thank you so much for the beautifully made memorial plaque. It’s perfect in every way. Lovely thick brass plate, deeply engraved and filled with white enamel paint. You were so patient with us during the proof stage. I’m a perfectionist, and this is outstanding craftsmanship. Thank you.’

4. Leeds Engraving Centre

leeds-engraving-centre-logo

Address: 107 Gipton Approach

Contact Details: 0113 228 3982

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Fri – 9 am to 5:30 pm
  • Sat – 9 am to 1:30 pm

Website

We had to give Leeds Engraving Centre a nod after scoping out their turnaround time, which is within 24 hours or shorter.

Can’t knock their coverage either. Thanks to the shop’s modern and traditional approaches/tools (like lasers), they can handle tons of materials, such as glass, wood, metal, and even cork.

The number of items they create is noteworthy, too. Fully personalised gifts are part of that list, alongside trickier objects like glassware and jewellery.

In addition, they accept large, corporate orders. Quotations and tips are provided, so you’re not chucking coin blindly.

However, customer service isn’t their strongest department. The staff’s reportedly unwelcoming demeanour didn’t sit well with plenty.

Having a history of late email responses also doesn’t do them any favour.

On the upside, their rates are what most joints in Leeds would charge.

Additionally, their team has been engraving for 7-plus years now.

Pros

  • Operating for over 7 years
  • Material variety (wood, glass, cork, etc.)
  • Offers laser engraving
  • Can handle large orders

Cons

  • History of unfriendly staff
  • History of slow email responses

Beautiful and Simple

‘I asked for a memorial plaque in memory of my brother. Not really knowing what I wanted, the Leeds Engraving Centre engraved my words and made the plaque look better than I could have imagined. It was beautiful and simple. The price was very reasonable for the quality.’

– Janette Gibson, Google Review

Reasonable Price

‘Asked then to laser etch a company logo onto some spoons. Despite some initial uncertainty, they were very helpful. The results were really good and we had them available the following day. Reasonable price too. Would recommend and the recipients were very impressed with their unique gifts. Many thanks.’

5. Pantograph Services

Address: 8D Felnex Cl

Contact Details: 0113 249 6161

Operating Hours: Mon to Fri – 8:30 am to 5 pm

Website

Pantograph’s Gravograph machines are a real draw. Professionals in the jewellery and signage industries say it’s among the most precise and reliable tools for engraving.

Beyond that, the folks down there are just easy to work with. We stopped by twice, and both times, the staff members were polite and well-informed, which got them bonus points since we’re a chatty bunch.

As far as options go, this pick is flexible. We mostly had pet tags and personalised gifts engraved there, but the shop can also sort out labels, plates, and larger items like 1,220 mm x 610 mm signage.

Furthermore, they’re the only choice here that supplies engraving consumables, a big win if that’s what you’re after. The products they sling include cutters and aluminium desks.

The catch? Operations stop on weekends.

They’re also behind the times for not having an online ordering/shopping setup, which most of our other entries have.

Pros

  • Opened in 1980
  • Can engrave signage up to 1,220 mm x 610 mm
  • Polite customer service
  • Uses reliable Gravograph machines
  • Sells engraving consumables like cutters

Cons

  • Weekend closure
  • No online purchase option

So Thorough and Very Prompt

‘Pantograph is a incredible company, the service is 2nd to none and the people are lovely, they are so thorough and knowledgeable and very prompt, I’ve used them many times over the years for tool sharpening and they have made me many masters for my old Gravograph machine and they also cut to size the laminate I engrave on along with other items. I really do not know where I’d be with out them. Thank you to everyone at Pantograph I wish all companies could be as good as they are’

– Lucy Rush, Google Review

Outstanding Company

‘Ah lovely Pantograph Services. An outstanding company that’s put up with so many dull questions and an initial lack of understanding of cutter geometry from me (I know have an advanced lack of understanding) anyway, without Pantograph, I doubt we’d have a business.

Great work. Highly recommended.

Dogs all over the world have been tagged courtesy of Pantograph-supplied or sharpened cutters and more.

Gotta tag those dogs.’
