There are no small jobs with S. Bretherick Handyman Services. This fully insured pro sorts out tasks that larger outfits typically decline, such as fitting curtain rails, hanging pictures, installing mirrors, changing bulbs, and more.
Simon, the man behind the brand, is also a straightforward guy; he gave us fixed quotes and upfront deadlines. What’s even better is the fact that he honoured both, with a £10 voucher given to those who referred him to other folks.
That said, manpower isn’t his greatest asset, given the one-handyman setup. We included other entries that can rock up as a team.
The hours are relatively limited as well. In fact, Simon is the only handyman here who normally doesn’t operate on weekends.
We’ve got no complaints beyond that. I personally love the bespoke garden work Simon did on my property, and he even left it tidier than he had found it.
Was Easy and Straightforward
I highly recommend Simon’s handyman services. He fitted a TV mount to the wall and also put up a towel rail in the bathroom and did a great job with both. He is an extremely clean worker too, leaving no mess whatsoever after the job. He arrived when he said he would, and the whole process of getting the job done, from first contact to finish, was easy and straightforward. I will definitely be booking Simon in for more handyman jobs soon 😊👍🏻

We gave Odd Job Heroes a glowing reliability score. Within 24 hours, Mark replied to our emails, and his lads showed up exactly when they said they would.
You may book this one as a team. That generally speeds up their work, both the general and the odd ones.
Speaking of work, they have a wider service scope than most. This team is qualified for joinery, electrical, jetwashing, painting, and even cleaning jobs, each priced reasonably.
One downside, however, is their distance from the Leeds CBD; the drive usually takes 45 to 50 minutes. Late arrivals can happen and have happened before, although occasionally.
Area coverage can also be a snag if you’re too far from Wharfedale, Clitheroe, and Skipton. If unsure, dial them.
You can chill about paperwork, though. Odd Job Heroes’ handymen are DBS-checked and fully insured.

I had a seamless experience from my initial enquiry through to completion of the job. Sam did a wonderful job of decorating the property. She was a perfectionist and excellent communicator. Excellent Work Ethics
This is an amazing company to deal with. Fast response time and excellent work ethics. In August, I asked if they could repair a broken bathroom light for my mum, not a problem at all, and it was promptly fixed. My mum has Alzheimer’s and the understanding of this was appreciated. Mum said Paul was a lovely chap and she would be more than happy for him to do work again. This is my first time using this company and I wouldn’t hesitate using them again. If manners and reliability matter big-time to you, Marcin of Hey Handyman is a solid pick. Our interviewees described him as polite and quick at finishing jobs, without compromising on quality, of course.
Several also praised his rates, which, upon checking, are indeed spot-on for Leeds. Factor in his honest and helpful advice, and it’s a steal.
Marcin’s range is props-worthy, too. He can handle flat pack assembly, drilling, plumbing, painting (like the painters we trust), decorating, and electrical work.
Even so, it’s fair to say he lacks extra hands. If you’re looking to speed things up by hiring a team or duo, this one isn’t the most suitable choice.
Booking Marcin right away isn’t a certainty either, with the wait time usually taking two weeks. That’s bad if you need urgent repairs or fittings.
On the upside, he covers work across the entire city and rarely shows up or finishes late.

Hudson Handyman has fair prices, a perk only sweetened by the free clean-ups, open comms, and Saturday hours.
Service-wise, they tick general and odd jobs, like shelving, silicone replacement, and handrail fittings. Fence repair and installation are also on the cards, solutions that not every handyman here has.
Of course, there are a few hiccups. Some firms, for instance, have services not found here; think joinery and jetwashing.
Hudson’s being in high demand can slow things down, too, especially if you’re gunning for Mike. He’s their most sought-after handyman, with an often-packed timetable.
The good news is, the wait is worthwhile. Mike’s reliability grades are glowing, reflected in how often clients come back.
Responses seldom take more than a day, either. In our case, a free quote was sent within 24 hours, and several clients mentioned that that has been the deal since 2020.
Absolutely Cracking Job
This week Mike installed these acoustic panels on our old chimney breast and levelled off the floor where the mantel piece had been. From the point of initially enquiring with him through to completing the job, Mike has been responsive, proactive, clear and easy to deal with. Most importantly, he’s done an absolutely cracking job and we wouldn’t hesitate to work with him again. Thanks Mike.

Versatility makes DownesHomemaintenance a handy pick. They’re manned and flexible enough for roofing (they almost made this list), joinery, plumbing, painting, decorating, electrical, and even vehicle-related work.
Oliver, their top guy, also does no funny business when it comes to quotes. His breakdown is easy to follow, with many saying they knew exactly what they were paying for from the initial consult alone.
On top of that, the guy can pass on savings to clients if he scores materials cheaper than usual.
Downes’ response game, however, isn’t flawless. Some have raised concerns over late replies to inquiries.
Booking ahead is certainly needed as well. While not a one-man show, their schedule can get hectic, given the number of people who hire them.
The silver lining? They’re the only choice here with round-the-clock hours.
Tenure isn’t a weak point either. After all, they’ve been running for nearly a decade now.
Inexpensive Job
Oliver quickly and professionally sorted out a leaking shower screen in a new build home. If I had done it, I would have done exactly the wrong thing and been in a world of bother but Oliver’s knowledge meant that this was a quick and inexpensive job. Costs Were Very Fair
We were very happy with the work carried out by Downes Home Maintenance to sort out a damp & mould problem in a bedroom followed by redecorating. The work started on schedule and Oliver was most considerate in causing the least disruption to the rest of the flat while working and left the room spotless at the end.
