The Best Singing Lessons in Leeds to Build Great Vocal Habits
I have a confession: being a singer is one of my pipe dreams. This was especially strong when I was a kid. I was convinced that I’d become one of the greats, like my faves, Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Kate Bush.
Of course, this never came to be, but it’s still not too late to start learning how to sing. So far, I’ve attended a few classes, and it’s been a blast! I actually sound fantastic when we go to a karaoke bar with my friends!
Here are some places offering the best singing lessons in Leeds if you also want to refine your voice!
How much does a singing lesson cost in Leeds?
The cost of a singing lesson in Leeds is usually around £50 (for a one-hour class). Some instructors offer shorter classes, which, in turn, have cheaper rates too.
Art of Voice Studio

Address: 5 Badminton View
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—9 am to 7 pm
- Saturday—9 am to 2 pm
Contact Number: +447823806779
I ultimately chose The Art of Voice Studio because I heard that Kinga, the instructor, has over 20 years of experience in stage performance and singing education. That’s an impressive feat!
Thank goodness I did because she’s a fantastic instructor. She focuses on building your voice and your confidence at the same time, which I appreciate. She also has an encouraging personality, so I always feel motivated to do better next time.
I also like the variety of classes here. If you’re serious about singing, you might want to enrol in her six-week singing crash course. Otherwise, you can book her usual lessons, which you can choose between 30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute durations.
They even have a singing retreat in France! I’ve personally never tried this, but it sounds like so much fun.
The pricing is slightly expensive here. One-hour classes are around £70, while the shorter classes are around £50 and £60. Fortunately, if you choose to go with a subscription, you can score more discounts.
The one downside to this music school is the location. It’s tucked away in a corner of a residential neighbourhood, making it hard to find for first-time visitors.

Wonderful teachers
“I wanted to say Kinga thank you for the amazing Singing Crash Course!! It has transformed the way I relate with my voice and has definitely provided me with confidence to sing, but most of all, it has brought back my love for singing, and that is all thanks to you. You are a wonderful teacher and a force of nature!”

Operating Hours:

Lily Rose Moharrer is another singing instructor who comes highly recommended among my friends, and upon further research, I can see why.
For one thing, the classes here are affordable; the standard price is £46, while the vocal production and in-studio prep is £55. If you book multiple classes ahead of time, you can get discounts, which is even better news!
And for another, Lily is an amazing teacher. According to many clients, she’s good at making students feel at ease, so even the shy ones get the boost of confidence to shine.
She also focuses on getting the techniques right. One client shared that she appreciates how Lily makes sure to point out her bad habits and provide clear feedback on how to correct them.
Lily’s studio is also conveniently located in Leeds. There’s a bus stop nearby, so commuting to the school shouldn’t be too hard.
However, take Discounts for booking multiple classes ahead of timethat Lily only offers classes for students aged 18 years old and above. If it’s your child who’s interested in singing, then you have to find a different instructor.

Positive, kind, and encouraging teachers
“Lily is a wonderful teacher, singer and performer. I came to her as I lost my voice due to some ENT issues and was very upset as I sing with a band and had to bow out of a concert. Lily has helped me get my voice back, improve my range, tone, pitch, everything I could hope for, supporting me through all kinds of songs. She is always positive, always kind and encouraging and after every lesson, even if I have felt unconfident beforehand, or if my voice doesn’t feel at its best, I feel I could climb mountains – and sing on top of them. After every lesson she sends notes and homework which are always great to do and work on. Couldn’t do without Lily!”

Highly skilled, gentle, and kind teacher
“Lily is amazing, she gave me a full vocal MOT and helped me sing some very long and high notes, much more than I thought possible! She asked me what I wanted from the session and gave me some really simple things to practice to help me improve as well as some invaluable reflections on my bad habits. She is a highly skilled professional, who is also gentle and kind. If you want to know more about your voice, or just want to improve your singing then go and see Lily.”

Music Class of Excellence by Alla Shumova

Address: 2 Adel Towers Cl, Adel
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—9 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +447580001116
Is your child interested in music? Then, enrol them in a class by Alla Shumova! This instructor doesn’t just offer singing lessons; she can also teach your child piano and music theory.
Though children and teenagers are her main students, Alla is still open to teaching older students.
Clients praise Alla’s approach to teaching. She’s professional, respectable, and quite patient. She also gives out lots of encouragement to her young students, and that helps a ton.
Another thing to appreciate about Alla is the wide array of genres. Once you get the hang of the breathing techniques, sight-singing, and singing intervals and scales, you can opt to practice on your favourite genre—from showtunes to modern pop songs.
Alla’s studio is situated inside a residential neighbourhood, so it might be hard to get to, especially if you prefer taking public transportation. If you truly want to take classes here, you’ll have to drive.

Fun and encouraging lessons
“Fantastic teacher and musician. Very supportive and accommodating with lessons, even when I have needed to change at short notice. It is a joy to watch the progress of both my girls in piano and I am very glad we found her! Alla makes the lessons fun whilst encouraging correct technique and habits. My eldest daughter has also started singing lessons which she loves.”

Caring and accommodating teacher
“I started with Alla not long time ago and my progress is really impressive. She is very nice to me and caring, also Alla is able to accommodate my lessons though I have been very unorganized with time due to my work. She is able to provide me lessons on my free days and also very welcoming and tolerated my absence and sudden changes in schedule. I am enjoying my vocal lessons with her and hoping to progress more and more. Thank you, Alla, so much.”

LMorrellMusic

Address: Heath Lea, Halifax
Distance from Leeds: Around an hour
Operating Hours: Tuesday to Thursday—9 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +447425893945
Unfortunately, LMorrellMusic is located in Halifax, which is an hour away from Leeds, but I’ve heard good things about this school, so it’s worth checking out. In particular, this is a good place if you want to learn how to sing in a choir.
But even if you’re not interested in choral singing, you can still attend the regular lessons. These classes are private, so you can set your own goals with your instructor.
Plus, they’re open to students of all ages. I’ve even heard of students past 50 years old!
To make things better, the rates here are pretty affordable. A one-hour class is around £44, while the 30-minute version costs £22. If you’re still not sure, you can book a trial class with the instructor.
Still need another reason why you should check out this instructor? Well, let me tell you that her students love her infectious enthusiasm for singing because it inspires them to keep improving every session!
Do you want to challenge yourself further? You might be interested in her songwriting classes, too. Now, you can be a double threat in the music industry!

Low-stress environment
“Laura is a great singing teacher – my daughter says she feels her voice is much stronger and more controlled through her lessons. Laura really champions her students, putting on showcase events for them to sing and nurturing their abilities. My daughter really enjoys her classes with Laura, as she is pushed to excel but in a low-stress environment, which puts the child first.”

An inspirational teacher
“My daughter, who has enjoyed singing since primary school, wanted to develop her skills further. She joined a number of choirs and enjoyed the experience, however, her technical skills and confidence needed more attention and development. Laura has worked incredibly hard with my daughter to develop her confidence and move her forward. It has been such a pleasure see her love of music and singing flourish in such a short time. Laura has a wonderful gift, as she has high expectations of her pupils, whilst at the same time uses her incredible talent to bring out their potential. She builds strong and positive relationships with her pupils, which allows them to progress and shine. An inspirational teacher.”

- Tuesday to Thursday—8 am to 8 pm
- Friday—8 am to 7 pm
- Saturday—9 am to 7 pm

Music Lab is a popular music school in Leeds, with several locations within the city, so it’s not surprising that it’s a go-to spot for many aspiring musicians (both children and adults).
Plus, this school offers many classes—from instruments (e.g., piano, drums, violin, saxophone, bass, and guitar) to voice. So, if you want to supplement your singing skills down the line, you can easily do so here.
I like that the training here is based on performance, not grades. So, instead of memorising what you just learned, the instructors will start with the fundamentals and then help you merge these techniques with your personal style of singing.
The pricing here is amazing as well. Private classes usually start at £23.30, but if you’re saving money, you can book the group classes, which are around £10 per session.
Not sure if this is the school for you? Book a trial lesson first!
However, I’ve heard many complaints about some of the instructors. A few clients said that their instructor was rude, while another talked about how the instructor of his child kept changing, which was frustrating for him.
