The Best Water Damage Repair in Leeds Saving Locals’ Homes from Mould

  • Training and Certification. We checked that the technicians had undertaken a water restoration technician course from a renowned institution like The National Flood School and the British Damage Management Association (BDMA). Ideally, they should also have a certification from the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC) or an accreditation from a trusted institution like the Property Care Association.
  • Variety of Services. The more types of services the company offers, the better. This is because not all methods work the same for every circumstance, so it’s best if the client has more options.
  • Quality of Service. We observed how the team deals with customers from start to finish. They should be friendly and accommodating, always ready to answer questions. On the day of the service, they should be prompt, efficient, and meticulous. We admit that our experience is limited, so we also interviewed other clients for their own experience working with the company.
  • Pricing. It’s tricky to determine an exact price for water damage repair, so ideally, the company should offer flexible pricing. That way, the client and the company could negotiate on the rate. If the company offers free consultations or free quotes, they get bonus points from us.

If there’s one thing I hate about being a homeowner, it’s dealing with the aftermath of a plumbing leak. I just experienced one not too long ago—right after our bathroom renovation finished, mind you—and it was incredibly taxing.

I had to spend hours mopping and wiping surfaces down and throwing away any damaged stuff (RIP, my old sofa, you will be missed). Oh, and there’s the water damage repair. I had to book someone ASAP because I didn’t want any mould to form!

Fortunately, there are a few places offering excellent water damage repair in Leeds. Here are some of them.

I ultimately went with DAMPX when I encountered the plumbing leak, and I didn’t have any regrets. This family-run business is accessible; I just called them for advice on what to do and the possible costs before deciding to book their services.

I appreciate the wide array of services here. First, I booked their damp survey, which was incredibly thorough. The surveyor checked the damage area and provided the report, which was about 10 pages long, complete with pictures!

I eventually went with their condensation and mould services, and in the future, I’d like to book their basement or damp proofing. Timber preservation and cavity wall insulation removal are also available here if you’re interested.

DAMPX also provides long-term guarantees, so if you’re not satisfied with the service, you can just call them, and they’ll fix it. Oh, and 0% finance is available as well, which is good news for people who are on a tight budget.

The one downside is that the prices can be high. The survey report, in particular, cost me a pretty penny. I think it’s worth it, but it’s still worth considering.

Pros

  • Accessible
  • Wide array of services
  • Thorough and detailed survey report
  • Long-term guarantees available
  • 0% finance available

Cons

  • Expensive

Thorough reports

I hired DampX to do a damp and timber survey on a house I was buying. The report was 10 pages long and extremely detailed, with photographs of each problem area and a floorplan showing where the issues were located. It included descriptions of the existing problems and suggestions of likely causes, along with an estimate of costs for recommended work. The surveyor was honest about the limitations of the report (e.g., parts of the house which couldn’t be accessed for inspection), and also gave recommendations for work which would need to be carried out by other specialists (like roof repairs), so I could get further quotes. The report wasn’t cheap but it was excellent value for money, and I’d recommend them to any homebuyer who’s worried about damp.”

Very professional and skilled team

I highly recommend Josh and team to anyone with a damp issue. Completely professional service from initial survey, which in my case was a damp chimney breast, through to completion of work needed. Very professional and skilled team and was simply a pleasure having them remedy our damp problem. Will certainly use again should the need arise. Thank you Dampx.

Allerton Damp Proofing Leeds has been around since 1983, so the fact that they’re still in business is a testament to their quality. Their service area isn’t just Leeds; it also includes Harrogate, York, and other nearby towns.

This company offers several services in damp control, timber preservation, and basement conversion. They can treat the effects of rising and/or penetrating damp, remove any moulds, and, of course, damp-proof your house.

They can also deal with wet rot and dry rot, and if you’re a landlord, you might find their property survey services to be useful.

I like that you can get a quote online—and in just a minute or two! Just fill out the form on their website to get an estimate.

Clients also appreciate the speed. On average, it only takes a few days for the team to come to your house, assess the damage, and do the repairs. Some even said that the team finished ahead of schedule.

Sometimes, miscommunications happen here, though. One client shared that he was charged an extra £80 for something that he didn’t know about. The company eventually fixed this error, but even then, it’s annoying that this happened.

Pros

  • More than 40 years in business
  • Serves Leeds and other nearby towns
  • Wide array of services
  • Online quotes
  • Fast service

Cons

  • Sometimes miscommunication happens

Fantastic job from start to finish

Richard and Simon did a fantastic job treating the damp in my living room and kitchen. They kept me updated through the whole process and always took the time to answer questions and explain the next steps. The work was completed to a high professional standard, and I would definitely recommend Allerton Damp Proofing to anyone!

Professional team

I would recommend Allerton Damp Proofing from the first phone call, which was dealt with very professionally and a surveyor booked. When the surveyor came, he was polite and listened to our damp issues. He carried out his inspection and gave us an honest opinion and advice on how to solve our damp problems. He is a credit to your company.”

Highly professional, knowledgeable, and thoughtful team

I have nothing but the highest praise for the service I received from Dryfix. My surveyor was highly professional, knowledgeable, thoughtful, assiduous and a real pleasure to invite into my home. He generously shared his knowledge with me and the final report he produced was excellent. The whole team was efficient and a pleasure to interact with. In a world where it’s often hard to know who is reliable and trustworthy, I can highly recommend this company.

Excellent workmanship

The Dryfix team has just completed some damp proofing work at our home. The whole team has been fantastic from Russell performing a real in-depth survey with recommendations, to Fraser and Michelle keeping in contact with dates and general communications, to Steve, Al and Rob whose consideration and workmanship were excellent. For dusty, messy work the disruption was kept to a minimum and it was a pleasure to have them around. We would thoroughly recommend Dryfix.”

Chem-Dry of Harrogate is another company that’s not in Leeds, but they do serve clients here and in York. They’re also highly recommended among locals.

What people love about this company is the efficiency. They use thermal and injection drying equipment, which can dry your site in just a few days. If that’s not enough for you, they have speed-drying equipment that will get things done in just a few hours!

They have other services as well, such as carpet and upholstery cleaning and mould remediation. They even have 24/7 emergency services available, which is such a convenient offer.

The team deserves their praise. Clients told me that the technicians always came on time, and they were friendly and thoughtful. They worked carefully, trying not to make a mess at all.

They’ll also help you with insurance. They’ll speak to your provider on your behalf and provide any necessary documentation, like a detailed report with pictures, so you don’t have to worry at all.

That said, I’ve heard some issues about their communication. One client shared that they had to make four phone calls just to set up an appointment, which is so frustrating.

  • Punctual, friendly, and thoughtful crew

Effortless experience

Effortless affair, it was all done with love thank you so much, we have used you quite a few times now, thanks to remembering that you always did Ashness Apartments in Harrogate. You always do a top job.

Great attention to detail

Office contact very helpful and not pushy. Brilliant service all round, Liam arrived on time, charming, polite lad, very tidy willing worker. The house needed a deep clean after a 9 cat disaster. He worked very diligently, moving furniture and replacing. The carpet treatment worked very well and did not trigger my asthma. Work complete in 4 hours – all tidied up and great attention to detail – Highly recommended and would use again.”

The best thing about Rentokil Specialist Hygiene is that you can contact them anytime, since they’re open for 24 hours every day! If your plumbing accident occurs in the dead of night, these guys are your heroes.

The lineup of services here is impressive. In addition to property restoration, they can do hygiene and deep cleaning and other specialised services like mould removal and duct cleaning.

To make things better, they don’t just serve residents. They’ve also worked with commercial and industrial clients!

The process here is incredibly thorough. After doing their free survey, they’ll first extract water from the property, followed by throwing away the unsalvageable items. Then, it’s time for the disinfection, and once that’s over, they’ll dry and deodorise everything.

This process undoubtedly takes some time, but if you’re in a rush, they also have a rapid flood drying solution. This is perfect for clients in the commercial, retail, and educational sectors.

Their office is in Morley, which is a 25-minute drive from Leeds. This isn’t too bad, but depending on where you live in the city, you might have to wait some time for the team to come to your site.

Pros

  • Open 24/7
  • Impressive lineup of services
  • Diverse clientele
  • Free survey
  • Thorough process
  • Rapid flood drying solution available

Cons

  • About 25 minutes away from Leeds
