My brother and I still exchange words over his genius move of hiring cut-rate flooring contractors. Less than a year in, and that abomination of a floor already looked like it had seen two decades of wear and tear.
My hope was restored only when I rocked up to a mate’s place. His floor looked brand new, had no gaps or discolouration, and didn’t creak with each step.
When I asked him about his secret, he handed me his contractor’s card. Turns out a quality fitter is ALWAYS worth the price.

You can see the selection up close by visiting the Leeds showroom. From our experience, they allow visitors to touch and compare materials, with staff members offering tailored advice without pressuring.
Service is also end-to-end for all property owners. The two-year guarantee only makes that more appealing.
Appointments aren’t that flexible, though. Between 3 pm and 5 pm is when they’re usually set; tough luck if you’re tied up around that stretch.
Not everyone is pleased with their customer service either. Some grumbled about their phone agents’ abrupt and haughty manner.
On the upside, fees are right for Leeds. Discounts are even rolled out, like the 15% cut offered last August 2025.

Flexibility is an attribute of Iconic Flooring. Most interviewees, including commercial property owners, hired them for last-minute jobs.
Fitters such as Matthew and Jamie have received props for being courteous and punctual as well. Better yet, they often wrap up on time, sometimes earlier than intended.
The team’s pricing is another bright side. Iconic’s rates are generally touted as competitive.
If there’s a hitch, it’s the lack of a showroom. Appointment times can be flexible, true, but we’re all for popping down an exhibition space for a proper look and ‘feel.’
Operations also halt on weekends. We have picks here that run until Saturday.
Past that, they’re golden, with a range of flooring options covering Karndean, vinyl, Amtico, and more.
We have to note their experience as well. Open since 2016, Iconic has been in the trade for over a decade.

Huscroft makes flooring dead handy, thanks to their unique services. For one, their team can bring samples directly to your home, and you can even keep them for a day or more to decide or visualise the result.
Speaking of visualising, you can ask them for CAD-drawn layouts. This is sweet for comparing options (herringbone vs plan, for instance), but if you ask me, its biggest perk is avoiding pricey mistakes.
Our crew is also big on maintenance and guides, so their care hacks/products (like eco-friendly oils) and how-to videos are appreciated.
We just wish they were open on weekends, given our tight Monday to Friday schedule.
It would also be neat if discounts (or bundled deals) were offered once in a while.
Don’t get us wrong; their product and fitting rates are within the city’s averages, as per our interviewees and quote comparisons.

A Perfectionist
We chose Huscroft Flooring to install our wooden floors based on the online reviews that I had read. I am pleased to say that the company more than deserved all the fantastic online reviews that I found! The company has been professional, reliable and courteous from our first telephone call with Lucy. Every meeting, date and promised information was exactly at the time we had agreed.
The advice from Keiran about the flooring that would be most suitable for our house, was invaluable and has resulted in us being absolutely thrilled with the end product. Kieran is a perfectionist in his work, ensuring everything is just right, and he and James worked very carefully ensuring that everything was kept as clean and tidy as possible. Particularly impressive are the thresholds between rooms which are perfect. Kieran has also left us with information and the correct cleaning materials for how to look after the floor going forward.
As you can see from the photographs, we have had our whole downstairs re-floored with parquet. It looks amazing in our 1960’s house, just as if it was there the day we moved in. I cannot recommend this company more highly. Well done and thank you!

Folks who value longevity should give Johnson Flooring a tap. This family-run business has been operating since 1985, servicing both commercial and domestic properties.
Their work is fully guaranteed, with a £5 million public liability insurance. That’s grand for your peace of mind.
Moreover, the company is part of credible organisations such as the Yorkshire Floor Coverings Trades Association and NICF, a solid indicator of credibility.
A weak spot, however, is the product range. Those looking for options beyond vinyls and carpets might find this one a bit limited.
It’s best to be quick, too. Johnson Flooring is in demand, and they’re not the largest team in town.
The good news is you’ll unlikely face transparency issues. Quotes are accurate (and are provided fast) with what interviewees paid for.
On top of that, you can ring them up for home samples, consults, levelling solutions, and repairs, not just fitting solutions.

I can’t talk about experience without mentioning Moda Flooring. Any business that has been going on for over 50 years isn’t doing it by providing inferior services.
Pricing is another reason they’re here. In fact, most clients said they were surprised by the company’s reasonable quotes (often provided within a day), considering the timeliness and quality of installation.
The extras deserve praise as well, such as the mobile home consults and measurements, both free of charge and informative. Past clients who’ve asked tons of questions to Joe can back that up.
Occasional discounts are out of the picture, though. A perk like this would’ve been neat, especially for their repeat customers.
And like the last pick, Moda is a pretty popular choice. Overbooking shouldn’t be ruled out.
The silver lining? We have no gripes with their range. They do carpet, vinyl, and wood flooring.

He managed to fit us in before the due date at last minute and got the materials etc. on his way + charged a fair price. Highly highly recommend!
