The 5 Best Office Supplies Stores in Leeds We Can’t Operate Without

Product Range: Jumping from shop to shop is costly and annoying. Thus, we browsed through store catalogues (including online ones) and in-store selections to see if their product range is solid.

The basics we looked for are office tech, basic stationery, and furniture. Shops that focus on a single item only were excluded, while well-stocked ones with lesser-seen items like ergonomic gear were prioritised.

Reliability: We used feedback and personal experience to gauge this criterion. The team examined order fulfilment dates and packaging quality, especially those related to bulk or urgent orders.

Naturally, we crossed off names with a history of late deliveries and stock errors.

Customer Service: We rated their customer service using our shopping or talking experience with their staff, over the phone and in person. Client feedback mattered, too.

Price and Value: This one basically centres on affordability and quality. Pricing structures and quality feedback were compared across multiple shops.

In addition, we prioritised those with discounts and loyalty programmes.

Accessibility: Accessibility is crucial, especially if you need last-minute supplies. That’s why most of our choices are less than 10 minutes from Leeds city centre.

Bonus points were given to those with ample parking spaces and efficient online delivery or collection systems.

I’ve been tied to an IT desk for yonks now, so I’m quite familiar with a few office bummers. There’s daft management, a co-worker’s favourite song that plays all day, and my biggest bugbear, rubbish, costly supplies.

Seriously, it’s hard to make magic on a second-rate keyboard that doesn’t respond. Even overpriced staplers or paper can bleed a company’s profit by dragging product quality into the gutter.

So we hit up local office supply shops to identify which ones have the finest products and services. Refills won’t be a chore with our recommended stores.

How much do office supplies cost in the UK?

Here are some common office supplies in the UK and their typical costs:

500 sheets of standard inkjet paper – £7 to £11

Pen – £1.20 to £2

A package of whiteboard markers with 4 colours – £2 to £3

120 business cards – £14 to 17

A simple printer toner – £26 to £35

1. Ryman Stationery

Contact Details: 0113 322 5988

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Sat – 9 am to 6:30 pm
  • Sun – 10:30 am to 5 pm

Website

Ryman Stationery has been my go-to for office and personal supplies for a while. They’re a safe bet, knowing the brand first flipped that ‘Open’ sign in 1893.

The sweet part is they’re not stuck in the past. One thing I find superbly convenient is their click-and-collect setup, which lets customers order online and pick the goods up within 60 minutes—lines be damned.

Speaking of lines, the store can get cramped, especially on Mondays and Saturdays, from what I’ve seen.

That said, in-store shopping isn’t too maddening. The staff are patient and helpful, even to ‘I’ll-be-here-for-an-hour’ shoppers like me.

Pretty much all office essentials are here, too—filing gear, meeting room equipment, stationery, gadgets—the works.

Just don’t expect bargain fees. Their rates often go beyond Leeds’ standard prices.

On the upside, there’s a loyalty programme that can knock a few quids off. Delivery is also quick (1–2 business days).

Pros

  • Operating since 1893
  • Has a loyalty programme
  • Average delivery time of 1–2 business days
  • Lengthy product list

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Store gets packed

Sorted the Problem

‘I had a problem with the DHL detail. Supervisor Jorge and Sales Assistant Lewis were exceptionally kind and helpful. They sorted the problem out and didn’t accept any fee for the

help as well. Thanks for the help again.’

– Apsara Gurung, Google Review

Friendly and Efficient

‘Jo and Lewis at the Leeds Merrion centre branch of Rymans delivered outstanding , friendly and efficient advice and customer service, when I came in to request reformatting, printing and lamination of wedding signage. Thanks so much for your support!’

2. The Works

Address: 9/10, Merrion Shopping Centre

Contact Details: 0113 246 1291

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Sat – 9 am to 5:30 pm
  • Sun – 10 am to 4 pm

Website

You’ve probably heard of The Works from your kid’s arts and crafts club, but they actually have a decent stash of office supplies, too. Not only that, but they’re a value retailer, meaning the prices are lower compared to bigger names.

The regular deals make them even better. For instance, there’s always a multi-buy promotion like ‘2-for-1s.’

Product-wise, they sling the basics. We inquired over the phone and snooped through the stores, and the common goods we found include pens, papers, folders, calculators, and boards.

Now, if your office needs some tech like ours, The Works isn’t the right call. There’s no keyboard or monitor in sight.

Moreover, the physical stores, including the one in Kirkstall, are too small for our liking. We found shopping online less stressful.

Good thing the online click-and-collect system works. The free delivery for orders beyond £40 is also a nice touch, chiefly because it’s cheap and rarely late.

Pros

  • Reasonable prices
  • Free click-and-collect service for orders beyond £15
  • Offers regular deals
  • Free delivery for orders beyond £40

Cons

  • No tech supplies
  • Physical stores are too small

Made My Day

‘The lass at the counter made my day. I accidentally got one of the twine stickers stuck to me and I didn’t notice and she said oh look your a roll of twine at first I was confused but she pointed the sticker out to me and I was so amused. It’s the little things that can make someone’s day… Also £1 twine woohoo’

– Skye Thackray, Google Review

Cheap Prices

‘I have visited The Works stores in various cities. This Leeds based store is just like any other, simply fabulous. I am amazed how do they maintain same top quality across all the stores. There’s wide range of the Christmas decors available at the store for cheap prices. Overall product quality is good.’

3. Olympic Stationers

Address: Aire Place Mills, Kirkstall Rd

Contact Details: 0113 242 5425

Operating Hours: Mon to Fri – 9 am to 5:30 pm

Website

We’re always going to favour first-rate customer service, which is why Olympic Stationers caught our attention. Their team, David especially, has been prompt, crystal-clear, and professional whenever we’ve reached out for orders or queries.

Their catalogue is also one of the largest in the UK, with over 20,000 well-priced products that cover what we consider must-haves: office stationery, gadgets, cleaning materials, and furniture.

Additionally, Olympic sells protective gear like body armour and PPE. Most names here don’t.

Delivery is also a win, as orders usually arrive the very next day after their placement. This covers most places in West Yorkshire, not only Leeds.

If there’s one thing we’d change, though, it would be the lack of regular offers, particularly for bulk buys.

Another would be the weekend closure. Emergency top-ups on a Sunday would give Olympic flexibility points.

Beyond that, they’re legit. Being open since 2005 proves that.

Pros

  • Open since 2005
  • Sells protective gear
  • Massive catalogue (20,000+ products)
  • Reliable delivery

Cons

  • Weekend closure
  • Lack of regular discounts

Gone Above and Beyond

‘Highly recommend! David has been so helpful and has managed to save us from a couple of stationery emergencies over the busy Christmas period. Delivery has always been extremely prompt and he has really gone above and beyond to help us out!’

– Ciara Foster, Google Review

Great, Friendly Service

‘Olympic have always provided us with a great, friendly service. Used for a number of years ordering our office supplies & furniture.’

4. WHSmith

whsmith-logo

Address: 3-7 Lands Ln

Contact Details: 0113 242 2505

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Sat – 9 am to 6 pm
  • Sun – 11 am to 5 pm

Website

If you’re the type who sticks to established names, give WHSmith a squiz. After all, they’ve been running since 1792…and that’s not a typo.

The nice part is how fair the prices are. We had a look at both their in-store and online catalogues, and the differences boil down to just about £2–£3, with the online shop being the cheaper one.

However, the physical stores, including those in New Station and White Rose Shopping Centre, don’t stock enough office supplies. Shopping online is the far superior choice for larger, more varied buys.

The Lands Lane spot is also literally gloomy. Brightening it up wouldn’t hurt.

There’s a saving grace, though. WHSmith’s staff are genuinely polite and knowledgeable, speeding up in-store shopping and making it less headache-inducing.

As for their product list, it’s nothing flashy but gets the job done. Revision tools, stationery, envelopes, and pens are all offered.

Pros

  • Longest-running shop here (opened in 1792)
  • Low prices
  • Staff have great product knowledge
  • Online and in-store prices aren’t too different

Cons

  • Physical stores don’t have enough supplies
  • The Land Lane branch is too dark

Reasonable Price

‘A really nice stationary shop with a great selection of stationary at a really reasonable price. This store also has a really good and extensive book store which often has books I’ve struggled to find at other shops.’

– Matt H, Google Review

Good Prices

‘Excellent choice of magazines, so much choice. In a similar way to reading books it’s great to have an actual real copy over reading everything online. Superb range of art supplies too at very good prices too.’

– Jordan Deal Small, Google Review

5. Natureinks Limited

natureinks-limited-logo

Address: Natureinks Limited, The Store Room, Millshaw, Beeston

Contact Details: 07894 551017

Operating Hours: Mon to Fri – 10 am to 4 pm

Website

Knowing there are folks out there probably after printing, media, and some niche office supplies, we included Natureinks Limited.

Their catalogue is different, since it centres on inks, papers, CDs, DVDs, and USBs. That makes them a fair choice for media or publishing firms.

Moreover, Natureinks sells 3D printing filaments. No other shop on this list does.

The primary drawback, though, is that they don’t carry your everyday office supplies, like pens and staplers. Computer accessories are missing, too.

One more hiccup is the weekend closure, which can slow deliveries a little if you fail to order on a Friday.

The good news is their pricing. Most products are reasonably priced, and the store runs good deals on bulk orders for papers, CDs, and DVDs.

Even better, delivery is free anywhere on the UK mainland with no hoops to jump through; it applies to all orders.

Pros

  • Operating since 2012
  • Justified prices
  • Sells niche supplies like DVDs and 3D filaments
  • Offers discounts on bulk orders
  • Free delivery across the UK mainland

Cons

  • Weekend closure
  • No computer accessories

Very Fast

‘Great seller with the lowest prices you could find on internet. Delivery is also very fast. i’ve been using them for years and never had any problems. Thank you’

– David, Google Review

Service is Outstanding

‘I have been using Natureinks for years. A fantastic company, very professional & super fast delivery every time. Their service is outstanding. Thank you.’
