Upperwood Tree and Landscape Services hasn’t been in the game for 15 years by accident. Having worked with them, we can vouch for their fair prices, quick services, and the team’s know-how—especially Adam.
Their communication is fantastic, too. Whether it’s trimming or pruning, they’ve kept us in the loop every step of the way.
Service-wise, they’re the full kit. While tree surgery is their bread and butter, we’ve also used them for fencing and block paving, and they even offer patios, artificial grass, and resin driveway installation.
Some negatives worth noting though are the occasional report of quotes being given but no follow-up, and their response times can be really sluggish.
That said, the cons list isn’t exactly a long one. Also, Upperwood’s post-job tidiness is something to shout about, as they left our space looking better than they found it.

Reliability is another strong suit. They’re punctual, don’t delay work, and can handle tough jobs, like taking down conifers, even when the weather isn’t ideal.
Leeds Tree Services also keeps things transparent. Quotes are done face-to-face, and what you see is what you pay, with occasional discounts offered.
However, their popularity means they can get booked up quickly. Plus, their expertise leans heavily on removal and cleaning, so they’re not the best choice for artificial grass installations or decorative aggregate work.

We’ve worked with Clear Cut before, and they lived up to their name—straightforward and spotless. Prices are often reasonable, and the team, based on our experience, doesn’t skimp on quality.
They’re a jack-of-all-trades. We hired them for stump grinding and removal, but they also handle hedge trimming, shed services, waste removal, lawn installation, and even supplying firewood to those in need of reliable heating.
One caveat: they’re a newer player, with less than 10 years under their belt. If experience is your dealbreaker, there are more seasoned tree surgeons here. Also, discounts aren’t really their thing.
On the upside, Clear Cut has nabbed accolades, like a #1 Best Rated award from The Quality Business Awards in 2024.
They also earn points for communication. From what we’ve seen and heard, the team explains the process step-by-step and ensures clients are happy with the results.

James and the team also stand out for their responsiveness and reliability. They show up on time, finish the job promptly, and offer helpful post-job recommendations.
However, a crucial thing to consider is they don’t handle services like grass installation or fencing. And, unlike other names on this list, they’re closed on Sundays.
