The first time I thought I’d save myself a few quid and paint my crib myself, I committed a cardinal sin: opening YouTube and following a random bloke’s instructions. Absolute disaster, and I believe it wasn’t his fault.
By the end, it cost me more. That’s why I swallowed my pride once I got the funds to pay for a seasoned painter, and their work was a Michelangelo piece compared to mine!
So, to save you from the same mess I faced, we looked for the best painters in Leeds, and since there are tons of them, we narrowed it down to the standouts.

When asked why they chose Gareth Thompson, nearly all of our interviews pointed to the painter-slash-decorator’s three-decade-long experience. His use of top-shelf materials, particularly Benjamin Moore water-based paints, was also brought up.
While those really boosted his case, I’d say it’s the pro’s meticulous hand-painted approach that locked in his spot. From our experience, the finish looks modern and clean, with that extra layer of ‘personality’ or ‘soul.’
In terms of range, he’s quite flexible. Kitchens are what Gareth handles best, but you can generally count on him for both interior and exterior projects.
I’m a fan of his detailed and reliable process as well. Gareth ensures the project is customised through consultations, provides a consistent price, sends photographs for updates, and conducts a final assessment.
That said, you must book months ahead. We’re talking about a single craftsman here, not a company.
The weekend unavailability can also be a bummer.

Better yet, they paint murals. Interviewees who opted for this service praised the characterful illustrations, which are often tailored to what you have in mind.
The prices aren’t bad either if we’re talking Leeds. As a bonus, quotes are often provided in about 24 hours.
One potential snag is that they spend some time between projects, something not everyone will love.
To be fair, they communicate about that bit clearly and are rarely late. In fact, Glen and his team have a reputation for showing up on time.
You still have to be patient, with so many chasing their work. Well, that’s no shocker given their 25-plus years in the business and ability to work with residential and commercial properties.

Recently Glenn and his team painted our new extension and helped with some other paint jobs that needed doing around the house. Efficient, Punctual
Glenn and his team have just completed the exterior painting of our 3 storey Edwardian house. If you’re searching for a seasoned team of spray-painters, Rushton & Company deserves to be in the top 5. Clients rave about their ‘no brush marks’ results, as well as their capability to spray-paint plaster, wood, glass, and more.

If there’s one thing to consider, it’s their relatively modest track record with commercial jobs. Quotes could also be turned around faster.

Their ‘preparation stage’ is also one of the most comprehensive on this list. Painting only begins after they’ve combed through the entire place for signs of damage, and if they spot any, the team will discuss it with or give advice to the property owner first.
On top of that, ASC is comfortably within Leeds’ price bracket and is fully insured. The cherry on top is their no-obligation quote policy, featuring a detailed breakdown of labour and material costs.
The drawback? They’re the ‘youngest’ entry on this list. Sure, 10 years isn’t green, but the other options have more mileage.
ASC isn’t the largest crew in town either, so don’t be shocked if they’re booked during busy periods.

Really Helpful
We’ve used ASC Decorators for two jobs now. We first booked them to paint our refurbished bathroom and based on the high quality of the work asked them back to decorate our new loft conversion, which decorating newly plastered rooms as well as redecorating previously painted, remodelled parts of the house, joins in old and new plaster and woodwork. They also undertook the staining of the new staircase and doors. The finished result looks brilliant. Ash was really helpful in recommending paint types and with general advice, and all communication around start dates, colour choices and quotes was really prompt and professional – our build timescales inevitably shifted around a little and they were understanding and flexible about this.
