Rise, shine, and dine at the best bed and breakfast in Leeds!
No shade on the big hotel chains, but sometimes they have the warmth of a tax office. Great if you’re dashing in and out, but not exactly the best when you’re after that ‘home away from home’ experience.
That’s where a quaint bed and breakfast joint comes in. You’ll wake up in a characterful room, with the aroma of fresh bacon and eggs wafting up the stairs, often cooked by sunny hosts.
Leeds still has a few digs like that. We booked the best ones and rated the experience to give you the cosiest and homiest of the bunch.
Chevin End Guest House

Address: W Chevin Rd, Menston
Contact Details: 01943 876845
Check-in: 2 pm
Check-out: 11 am
Chevin End Guest House made us swoon over the Wharfe Valley. This barn-turned-B&B is proper rural, with most rooms just one gaze from their secluded courtyard.
Speaking of the rooms, there are 15 in total, all en-suite, located away from the main house, and equipped with Wi-Fi. We opted for the family room with two single beds, though we reckon those snug chalets are better for folks crashing without kids.
Breakfast-wise, they made us pick between full Irish and English…and we chose both. Not a bad move considering we spent the rest of the stay fishing, cycling, and playing mini golf.
Tip: Call and book directly to secure an overall rate that’s typically 10% lower than what external booking websites offer.
The Wrens
– From wrenshotelleeds
Address: 61A New Briggate
Contact Details: 0113 245 8888
Check-in: 2:30 pm
Check-out: 10:30 am
“Classic” sums up The Wrens. People have been snoozing and dining here since 1913, including stars who performed at the historic Grand Theatre, a site this pub-slash-hotel has a connection with.
When it comes to the quarters, the rooms aren’t stuck in the past, but they’re not ‘too commercialised’ either. Most can sleep 2–4 guests and show off the city through large windows.
And since it’s part pub, mornings mean hearty plates, like mash and sausages.
Tip: Their lineup of current guest drafts and real ale is announced through Facebook.
Midland Hotel Woodlesford
– From themidlandhotelleeds
Address: 97 Aberford Rd, Woodlesford
Contact Details: 0113 282 1398
Check-in: 2 pm
Check-out: 10 am
The old-school character of Midland Hotel won us over. Being a community, pet-friendly pub, the joint is easy-going, right down to the private beer garden and neutral-toned family, twin, and double rooms.
Their buffet-style brekkie was another win in our books, especially since it wasn’t exclusive to meat-eaters. From 7 am to noon, we had a spread of fried eggs, bacon, baked beans, and plant-based sarnies.
After that, most of us stayed at the pub to play darts and watch sports. A couple went for a walk to chill at Woodlesford Park, a 4-minute walk from the stay.
Tip: Staying on or until Sunday is a smart move if you want a slice of their famous Sunday roast.
Hinsley Hall
– Fromhinsley_hall
Address: 62 Headingley Ln
Contact Details: 0113 261 8000
Check-in: 3 pm
Check-out: 10 am
Hinsley Hall is a 1867-built and heritage-listed building set in manicured lawns. It’s also a Catholic diocesan pastoral centre with 52 rooms (only 3 are non-ensuite), making it popular for religious retreats.
The said rooms are simple yet refurbished and airy, with natural light flowing through large windows. Connectivity, colour tellies, and an all-you-can-eat breakfast are all part of the deal.
What’s cooking? It’s usually a complete English breakfast paired with fruits and cereals. For the bev, they pour juices, teas, and coffee.
Tip: Parking is rarely a concern. They have ample space for that.
The Calverley Arms Hotel
– From calverleyarms
Address: The Calverley Arms, Calverley Ln, Pudsey
Contact Details: 0113 255 7771
Check-in: 3 pm
Check-out: 12 pm
As a country pub-hotel housed in a Victorian building, The Calverley Arms has both style and atmosphere. That has been the case since the 1850s.
The food here is also seasonal and works well for anyone with special diets. Unsurprisingly, English breakfast is a fan-favourite, but you won’t be daft for picking vegetarian smashed avo or pulled brisket, the beef slow-roasted in a Cornish kiln.
Moving to the rooms, there are 4 categories: king, twin, double, and family, each well-equipped with TVs and internet (some even with Hypnos beds). They’re also finished in light colours and offer valley sights.
Tip: Don’t forget your dogs. This spot is pup-friendly.
The Corn Mill Lodge Hotel
– From cornmill_lodge
Address: Pudsey Rd, Farnley
Contact Details: 0113 257 9059
Check-in: 2 pm
Check-out: 11 am
True to its name, The Corn Mill Lodge sits on the site of an old corn mill, though that’s not its defining trait. We’d say the 76 rooms, flowery patios, and 100-seater restaurant are the shiniest bits.
The compact, sloping digs are especially quirky in a good way. See, they’re outfitted with Velux windows and modern comforts, such as wi-fi, lift access, and baths.
Moreover, the resto understands that variety is the spice of life. Diners get to indulge in English and Mediterranean staples. Think Yorkshire pudding, corn salad, pizza, mushroom pies, and beef lasagne.
Tip: Before booking, check if any special offers are available.
Travelodge Leeds Central
– From hallamclarke1988
Address: Blayds Court, Blayds Yard, Off Swinegate
Contact Details: +44 871 984 6155
Check-in: 3 pm
Check-out: 12 pm
Travelodge goes for a ‘budget-luxe’ approach. Their 2-person SuperRooms, for instance, cost around £105 but still feature king-sized beds, 32” TVs, lengthy desks, ensuite baths, and duvets, with city views to boot.
In terms of the unlimited breakfast, you have 2 options: go light or full. Salads, oats, and organic yoghurts are on the lighter end, while bacon rashers, vegetarian sausages, and baked beans make up the latter.
Tip: Get the app. It makes booking extra convenient.
Premier Inn Leeds City Centre (Whitehall Road)
– From premierinn
Address: 1 Whitehall Riverside, Lower Wortley
Contact Details: 0333 234 6551
Check-in: 2 pm
Check-out: 12 pm
If your definition of a B&B is sleeping in a modern accommodation close to attractions like the First Direct Arena, Premier Inn is a solid pick.
We found their ‘Next Evolution’ rooms nice and cosy. The ‘soft and fresh’ theme might sound too modern, but the sunny and well-decorated spaces are anything but bland.
Better yet, the unlimited breakfast only costs £10.99, and it’s usually not short on goods. Hash browns, eggs, bacon, and sausages often stack up on plates.
Tip: The inn is a jaunt from the nearest station (Leeds). Consider getting here via a train ride.
The Met Hotel Leeds
– From the_met_hotel_leeds
Address: 5 King St
Contact Details: 0113 245 0841
Check-in: 3 pm
Check-out: 11 am
A hideaway that has existed since the 1800s hardly comes off as ropey, as proven by The Met Hotel. I mean, have you seen its iconic stone cupola and Victorian facade?
The homely quarters are equally notable, especially the 15 m² newly refurbished ones. Although not very different in appearance and features, the extra space makes a difference.
To top it off, the Yorkshire buffet hits the spot. The sweet part is that there’s a cold buffet alternative with organic fruits, preserves, croissants, meats, and cheeses.
Tip: Guests who stay on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are eligible for their weekend-only, complimentary breakfast deal.

Check-out: 12 pm
The Yorkshire-themed rooms of ibis Styles always put us in a good mood. They pop with warm colours and comfy furnishings, all without compromising on space, modern specs, and services.
In the breakfast department, it’s usually continental and buffet-style. Last time around, we got oats, pastries, cereal, eggs, and bacon, all locally sourced and seasonal.

Hampton by Hilton Leeds City Centre
– From hampton.by.hilton.leeds
Address: 1 Gower St
Contact Details: 0113 819 4900
Check-in: 3 pm
Check-out: 11 am
Guests often say that Hampton by Hilton’s complimentary hot breakfast is the best part of their stay.
We sampled it ourselves, and the variety and flavour were on point. Sure, it’s your typical English spread, but everything was freshly made, including the waffles, cereals, and pastries.
The guest rooms weren’t shabby either, specifically the twin and queen units, both coloured digs that overlook the city. What’s more, this room has bonus perks like EV charging and gym access, though our fur parents aren’t fans of the no-pet policy.
Tip: Parking costs 20 quid a day. Remember that when calculating your budget.
Holiday Inn Express Leeds – City Centre
– From holidayinnexpress
Address: Off Cavendish St, Kirkstall Rd
Contact Details: 0371 902 1616
Check-in: 3 pm
Check-out: 11 am
Holiday Inn Express’ family-focused setup makes it a dead good spot for a CBD getaway with the tots. Their standard rooms alone already clock at 215 sq.m–255 sq.m, spacious enough for a family of three and a pup.
Above all, their free buffet breakfast is health-conscious, caters to kids, and is filling. Lots of options as well, primarily oven-fresh pastries, classic sausages, roasted tomatoes, and scrambled eggs…lots of scrambled eggs.
Tip: All pet types are welcome, but there’s a £30 fee.
