Once I found out that Catering Yorkshire has over 25 years of experience, I decided to book them for our reunion. They handle weddings, office lunches, and events, so bringing them in for a gathering of nearly 50 people felt like the right move.

One of the things I rate highly is their menu. They use local and ethically sourced ingredients, which makes the food taste fresher and gives it that proper Yorkshire feel.

They also paid close attention to our dietary requirements, so none of my pals had to skip a dish.

And they’re not just about the food. At our reunion, they set up a fully licensed bar, which added to the fun and rounded off the night nicely.

The only downsides are that they don’t provide themed or regional menus, and if you want a full office lunch, you need to give them 48 hours’ notice.

Pros

  • Over 25 years of experience
  • Uses local and ethically sourced ingredients
  • Flexible with dietary requirements
  • Can provide a fully staffed licensed bar
  • Offers catering consultancy for venues and businesses

Cons

  • No themed or regional menus
  • Requires 48 hours’ notice for full office lunches

Blue Pepper Catering has been around Leeds since 2013, and they’ve managed to stand out by mixing proper traditional favourites with a few fun extras. What impressed me is how flexible they are.

They can handle big weddings and business seminars, but they’re also willing to take on smaller, more personal gatherings when needed.

For work events, they’ve got a build-your-own corporate lunch option, which is handy if you’ve got a mix of tastes in the office. They also offer kids’ party packages that keep things cheerful and straightforward.

If you want something with a Yorkshire touch, their fish and chips hire is a nice shout.

I like that they let you spread the cost through Klarna, which makes the bigger bookings less painful.

On the flip side, they’re not the cheapest, and you need to book early because they get busy, especially in wedding season.

Pros

  • More than 10 years of experience
  • Wide range of catering services
  • Kids’ party packages available
  • Has fish and chips hire
  • Offers bar hire packages
  • Flexible build-your-own corporate lunch option
  • Klarna financing available

Cons

  • Above-average prices
  • Popular dates book up quickly

The Blue Pepper team were absolutely brilliant from start to finish

“We couldn’t have asked for better caterers for our wedding!! The Blue Pepper team was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The service both on the day and in the lead up was fantastic. We had a BBQ and puddings for 100 people and the food was AMAZING! All of our guests have commented on how lovely the food was, and how well it was presented. We cannot thank David, Janet and the team enough, and cannot recommend them highly enough!! Thank you so much again xx”

If you’re after variety, Freshbyte Catering is worth a look. I’ve seen them handle buffets for both office lunches and family gatherings, and they always bring plenty of choices to the table.

They put a lot of focus on Asian food, with Afghani, Pakistani, and Punjabi dishes making up a good part of their menus.

One thing I rate is their live cooking stations. Having chefs prepare food on site adds a fresher feel and makes the event livelier. They also cater for afternoon tea parties, with a menu of desserts that rounds things off nicely.

They deliver across Yorkshire and into nearby counties, so they’re useful if you’re planning something outside Leeds.

Just keep in mind they can’t fully guarantee nut-free or gluten-free catering. And if you want staff to set up and clear away, it’s £15 an hour extra.

Pros

  • Strong mix of Yorkshire and South Asian menus
  • Good variety for buffets and parties
  • Live cooking stations available for events
  • Afternoon tea catering with desserts
  • Delivery across Yorkshire and nearby counties

Cons

  • Can’t fully guarantee nut-free or gluten-free catering
  • Extra charge of £15 per hour for staff to set up and clear away food

Honest Supper Club has been around for more than 15 years, and they’ve built a name on bold plant-based cooking that doesn’t feel like an afterthought.

What I like is how they’ve managed to take that passion and turn it into proper catering that covers events across the UK. They’re not just about weddings and corporate gigs either; you’ll spot them doing street food and festival stalls too.

Their menus are varied, with halal options that make sure everyone is included, and the Grand ThaAli is one of their highlights. It’s a huge spread of dishes, including bread, curries, and desserts, all served together and perfect for sharing.

If you want to test things out first, they even offer taster packs.

The only snag is communication. You can’t ring them straight away, you have to email first, and replies can take up to three days.

  • More than 15 years of experience
  • Specialises in plant-based cooking
  • Caters events nationwide
  • Can do street food catering

Another catering company that hits the mark when it comes to variety is The Yorkshire Catering Company. They put on some fun dishes like meze, cicchetti, BBQs, and paella, which makes them a bit different from the usual buffet spread.

They also have a vegan menu, which I know plenty of people will appreciate. A nice touch is that they let clients try free tasters, so you get a feel for the food before the big day.

It’s also worth mentioning that they have their own venue called The Mill. Located in Hepworth Gallery, it has a rustic vibe that I think will work well for weddings.

That said, I’ve heard a few grumbles about their staff acting rudely towards guests. They also seem to miss enquiries now and then, so chasing them up or resending messages can end up being part of the process.

Pros

  • Wide range of dishes offered
  • Vegan catering available
  • Free tasters offered to new clients
  • Has their own events venue
  • Can create custom menus for events

Cons

  • Enquiries sometimes left unanswered
  • Some rude staff interactions

The food was fantastic

“Alex and the team catered our wedding last week and we couldn’t have been happier with how it went. She was so easy to deal with from start to finish, totally professional but also friendly and easy going. Most importantly the food was fantastic, we had so many comments about how much people had enjoyed it. Thanks for making the day so easy and full of good food!”

-Adam Langron, Google Reviews

I was blown away by the quality of the food
