Booming with neon lights and banging tunes, Boom Battle Bar had us chucking axes and ditching the blues in no time. The crew, especially Izzy, made the whole gig a doddle—from the safety spiel to the session itself.

No safety issues either, as all 3 lanes are spacious, walled off, and properly lit. The best bit? Definitely the prices. It cost us £80 for an hour, while those looking for a quick, 30-minute game should expect to shell out around £45 to £50.

We never had a dull moment (or axe) at Whistle Punks. For starters, the instructors know how to mix banter with serious skills, even showing us a couple of trick shots—all for just £22 a head for 70 minutes.

They kept us buzzing with mini-games and a tournament as well, which suited our ever-competitive team. To top it off, their wood-fired pizza tasted legit, with the classic earthy and smoky flavours the iconic dish is loved for.

But if throwing axes is all you’re after, the place is still a riot, even for squads of 28. You see, there are three caged lanes and phenomenal staff like Rob, who’ll give you all the tips, tricks, and safety bits.

Phoenix Throwers cranked our adrenaline to 100, whether we were flinging tomahawks or chucking double-bitted axes. The sunlit, outdoor setup and specialised targets also made us feel like true wildlings out on the hunt.

Tucked away in a forest, Bawtry Paintball Fields gave us the chance to smash targets and soak up some fresh air. We even got to add a bit of archery (archery leeds) into the axe-throwing madness, all for an extra £10 a person.

Our 11-year-olds enjoyed it too, thanks to the kid-friendly options, where the little ones threw flying angels. We didn’t worry about safety since Bawtry Paintball Field has strict procedures, proven by their spotless safety record.
