The best steakhouses in Leeds we’d happily splash cash on!
Being obsessed with steak means I have a beef with spending top cash for some rubbery let-down. I’m sure you’d say the same, especially if you’re trying to dazzle a date or business partner.
Fortunately, Leeds knows its way around a good hunk of meat. There’s always a steakhouse that plates a sirloin or ribeye worthy of the price.
We have our go-tos, of course. You’ll have a slice of what they grill below, along with the juicy extras we’re fond of.
Fazenda
From fazenda.group
Address: Waterman’s Place, 3 Wharf Approach
Contact Details: 0113 400 1183
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Thu – 12 pm to 3 pm, 4 pm to 9 pm
- Fri to Sat – 12 pm to 3 pm, 4 pm to 10 pm
- Sun – 12 pm to 3 pm, 4 pm to 9 pm
Done the full churrasco-style, Fazenda’s cuts gave us a slice of Brazil while dining in Granary Wharf.
Pasadores (or servers) carved out meats from skewers, and the lineup was proper chunky. We counted around 15 picks, including salads and chicken hearts, all served alongside tenderloin, fillet mignon, and more.
The lean picanha topped them all. Taken from the rump’s top, it wasn’t shy on fatty layers and juice, with a robust beefiness that needed little to no seasonings.
Tip: It’s a smart move to celebrate your big day here. There’s free cake!
Ox Club
From oxclubleeds
Address: 19a The Headrow
Contact Details: 0113 487 1814
Operating Hours:
- Tue to Fri – 5 pm to 11 pm
- Sat – 12 pm to 11 pm
- Sun – 12 pm to 8 pm
The award-winning Ox Club loves fire. Their steaks are cooked over open flames, lending the meat a smokier hit without compromising its juices or tenderness.
Côte de boeuf is the must-have. Its superb marbling and high fat content are hard to resist, a fact sweetened by the generous portions meant for pairs.
Tip: You can bring dogs but only until 7 pm.
Gaucho Leeds
From gauchogroup
Address: 21-22 Park Row
Contact Details: 0113 246 1777
Operating Hours: Daily – 12 pm to 10:45 pm
I blame Gaucho for my fixation on Black Angus beef. The meat is from free-grazing cows of La Pampa, so yeah, it’s about as authentic as they come!
Every aged cut is also prepared by specialists who operate a London-based steak school. Combine their expertise with the premium meat, and you’ll get buttery chateaubriand and ribeye, which can weigh up to 2 kg!
Tip: There’s no dress code here, but if you want to go with the norm, don smart casual threads.
Estabulo
From estabulorestaurants
Address: The Light, 22 The Headrow
Contact Details: 0113 526 8856
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Sat – 12 pm to 10 pm
- Sun – 12 pm to 9 pm
Estabulo rolls out steak Rodizio-style. In other words, you’ll feast on unlimited cuts that are sliced tableside and set directly on your plate.
Everything is cooked exactly how you want it, and the only tricky part is picking what to devour. Are you in the mood for rump burning with chilli, lean bottom sirloin on the milder end?
Tip: Giveaways (including free steaks) are common here. Visit their Insta for the announcements and mechanics.
Etci Mehmet
From etcimehmet_uk
Address: Unit 1, 3 Eastgate
Contact Details: +44 161 399 4518
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Fri – 4 pm to 12 am
- Sat to Sun – 12 pm to 12 am
If you want to wow someone with live fire shows, authentic baklava, and Turkish steaks, Etci Mehmet is the right call.
Personally, the meat alone is enough. All the cuts are dry-aged for 28 days, so you get to indulge in denser yet natural flavours with a touch of nuttiness.
To cleanse your palate, they pour a glass of complimentary tea, but most folks don’t mind paying for the alcohol-free wine and mocktails.
Tip: Book in advance if you’re gunning for a Friday or Saturday visit.
Three Flames
From threeflamesuk
Address: 270 Wakefield Rd, Lupset, Wakefield, Ossett
Contact Details: +44 1924 925982
Operating Hours:
- Mon, Wed to Thu – 4 pm to 10 pm
- Fri – 4 pm to 11 pm
- Sat – 1 pm to 11 pm
Three Flames welcomed us with a meat counter loaded with Wagyu and Himalayan-salted steaks. We knew we had to splash out upon seeing that.
So we had the 28-day and dry-aged sirloin, grilled on charcoal and dished out alongside herb-crusted fries. As the staff promised, it had a buttery, truffle-ish profile and was way more tender than your regular steak.
Tip: Why not savour steak the bottomless brunch way? You can do so with a Saturday visit (1 pm to 3 pm).
The Rythre Arms
From the_rythre_arms
Address: Main St, Ryther, Tadcaster
Contact Details: +44 1757 268372
Operating Hours:
- Wed to Thu – 5:30 pm to 12 am
- Fri to Sat – 5 pm to 12 am
- Sun – 2 pm to 10 pm
Any “best steakhouse in Leeds” article that leaves out The Rythre Arms is questionable. Since it’s set in a century-old pub and has been grilling for over 40 years, many consider this one a steak lover’s mecca.
A taste of their subtle Chateaubriand will explain why. Given the joint’s traditional setup, you can expect 570 g of no-frills, buttery beef that’s portioned heartily.
There’s also the Trio of Steaks option for those who can’t pick between rump, sirloin, and fillet. For £112.95, you’ll get 8 oz of each, all cut up on a chopping board and paired with a steak sauce of your choosing.

Bison Steakhouse
From bison_steakhouse
Address: 151 Dewsbury Rd
Contact Details: +44 113 345 7216
Operating Hours: Daily – 4 pm to 11 pm
More low-key and affordable than most, Bison Steakhouse is for beef lovers on a budget and into hand-made steak burgers.
Don’t think the quality is cheap, though. We bit into Aberdeen Angus beef that was strong and supple, thanks to a 40-day dry-age.
What’s neat is that it’s halal and jazzed with ethically sourced ingredients, much like all their steak offerings.
Tip: Their elegant function space is kitted for special events.
Blackhouse
From blackhouseleeds
Address: 31-33 E Parade
Contact Details: +44 113 246 0669
Operating Hours: Daily – 12 pm to 11 pm
Two things keep us coming back to Blackhouse: the sustainable beef and its luxe, glass-walled setting. Wolfing an 800 g tomahawk will always be more enjoyable with a pianist tickling the ivories in the background.
The flavour doesn’t play second fiddle either. We usually have the Chateaubriand and rump, both aged for 28 days, both consistently rich (though the latter is a touch chewier and less buttery).

The Whitehall Restaurant & Bar
From thewhitehallleeds
Address: West Point, Whitehall Rd
Contact Details: +44 113 244 8443
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Thu – 10 am to 11 pm
- Fri to Sat – 10 am to 12 am
- Sun – 10 am to 8 pm
I’m a fan of The Whitehall Restaurant & Bar’s casual feel. Their menu and space lean modern, there’s a bar and terrace for de-stressing, and the steaks are grilled simply.
The flavour is a bit complicated, though, seeing as the beef is a cross between high-marbling Aberdeen Angus and incredibly lean Belgian Blue. What’s certain are the hefty servings.
Tip: It’s a hop from the station, so consider catching the train to get here.
Miller & Carter Leeds Light
From millerandcarter
Address: 56-58 The Headrow
Contact Details: +44 113 244 3583
Operating Hours: Daily – 12 pm to 11 pm
The Masters of Steak—that’s the honour Miller & Carter bagged, bestowed upon them by the Craft Guild of Chefs. It’s hard to argue with that.
For starters, they only source meat from Irish and British farms approved by Bord Bia and Red Tractor UK. A master butcher then dry-ages the meat for 30 days before carving out the prime cuts only.
What comes out of that meticulous process? A selection of accredited steaks with high marbling and superbly intense umami notes!

The Restaurant Bar & Grill Leeds
From restaurantbargrill
Address: The Old Post Office, 3 City Square
Contact Details: +44 113 244 9625
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Wed – 11 am to 11 pm
- Thu to Sat – 11 am to 1 am
- Sun – 12 pm to 10 pm
The Restaurant Bar & Grill gets some extra style points for being perched inside the Old Post Office.
Indoors, European grilled dishes are set beneath high ceilings. British steaks are among the top-sellers, the beef cut straight from a seventh-generation butcher.
Australian Wagyu is also on the menu, and its superior marbling is to die for. Just prepare your wallet: a 300 g serving costs £70.

Flat Iron Leeds
From flatironsteak
Address: 9A Lands Ln
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Tue – 12 pm to 10 pm
- Wed to Thu – 12 pm to 10:30 pm
- Fri to Sat – 12 pm to 11 pm
- Sun – 12 pm to 10 pm
Flat Iron Steak’s namesake slab offers dead good value. High in marbling yet lean (almost as delicate as tenderloin), it’s a thicker, £15 cut that’s best cooked medium-rare.
Daily cuts of Wagyu are offered as well. Sirloin is the fan-favourite, which is usually 8 to 10 quid pricier.
The good news is that you don’t have to pay for dessert. Before exiting, they’ll hand you free ice cream (or you could sweeten things with these dessert and cake shops)!
Tip: Let the little ones tag along. A kid-friendly menu is available.
The Cut & Craft
From thecutandcraft
Address: 23 King Edward St
Contact Details: +44 113 831 4829
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Thu – 11 am to 11:30 pm
- Fri – 11 am to 1 am
- Sat – 9 am to 1 am
- Sun – 9 am to 11:30 pm
It’s hard to beat The Cut & Craft’s premium appeal and looks. The Victoria Quarter setting is highly sophisticated, a quality matched by the steaks that are butchered in-house.
In terms of options, medium-rare flat iron is their most popular. A close second is the Chateaubriand, done how you fancy and best tackled by two (it’s 600 g of silky beef).

Brasserie Blanc Leeds
From your_cotswolds
Address: 4, Victoria Mill, The Embankment, Sovereign St
Contact Details: +44 113 220 6060
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Sat – 12 pm to 11 pm
- Sun – 12 pm to 10 pm
We can’t yammer on about Chateaubriand without giving Brasserie Blanc Leeds a shout. This Raymond Blanc resto by the River Aire does it beautifully.
To start, theirs is 160 oz and lined up with garlic tomato, chips, and a salad. You can then dress it with a bit of French sauces, like Café de Paris and béarnaise, both banging with grilled beef.
Tip: Bring your birthday cake; there’s no fee. They’ll even set it up for you!
